For SATB and orchestra. This new vocal-score edition was published to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, in June 1953. First performed as the new Queen processed out of Westminster Abbey, Walton's Te Deum is at once regal, celebratory, and restrained, and a beacon among English settings.

About William Walton Edition

In March 2014 Oxford University Press published the last volume in its magnificent William Walton Edition, the only complete critical edition of a 20th-century British composer's oeuvre. All 24 volumes are handsomely printed and bound. Walton's entire output is now available to scholars and performers in a definitive and fully practical edition, based on the form in which the composer ultimately wished his music to be performed. The general editor, David Lloyd-Jones - the eminent conductor, English music specialist, and founder of Opera North - invited a world-class expert to edit each volume. Carefully researched introductory essays place the works in their historical context and in the composer's oeuvre, and there are full critical notes.

Composed by Giacomo Meyerbeer. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 19th Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Opera,Romantic Period. Brass Band. 83 pages. Rob Bushnell #1006203. Published by Rob Bushnell (A0.1425382).

The Coronation March by the German composer Giacomo Meyerbeer comes from Act 4, Scene 2 of his grand opera, Le prophète (The Prophet). Set in the 16th century, it is based on the life of John of Leiden, Anabaptist leader and King of Münster, with the libretto influenced by the works of Voltaire. The 5-act opera deals with love, revenge and tragedy. It was premiered by the Paris Opera at the Salle Le Peletier on 16 April 1849, with audience members including Chopin, Verdi, Delacroix, Charles Dickens and Berlioz.

During his life, Meyerbeer was a dominant figure in the world of opera, with Hector Berlioz saying of him 'he has not only the luck to be talented, but the talent to be lucky.'

This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. A recording of the original composition can be found here on YouTube:
