Autonomous since 2000, it voted for independence in 2019, which is scheduled to be obtained before 2027. The anthem of the autonomous territory was adopted in 2018 and will most likely be adopted as the new nation’s anthem once independence is achieved. Titled “My Bougainville�, the melody is that of the Australian patriotic song “The Song of Australia� (one of four songs considered on a national plebiscite for that country’s anthem, but was rejected), the lyricist is unknown. It is not uncommon for anthems in the Pacific region to use the tune of a patriotic song or hymn of a current or former colonizer (as evidenced by the “Pacific hymn� genre of anthems); Australia governed Bougainville as a part of Papua New Guinea from after World War I to Papua New Guinea’s independence in 1975. The arrangement features each instrument taking turns with the melody, counter melody, and motor. With the purchase, you will receive a 10x17 tabloid full score (6 pages), letter size score (6 pages), violin I part (4 pages), violin 2 part (3 pages), viola part (3 pages), and cello part (3 pages). Total is 23 pages and the approx. run time of the piece is 2min 45seconds to 3minutes. About the arrangement: The arrangement is primarily written in 6/8, but features some metric modulation (going from dotted quarter 63 to quarter note 126bpm for example). This gives the piece a dramatic sense of escalation as it reaches the final passage. Each player will have his or her time to shine in the arrangement. Also, various playing techniques are used such as ricochet (on open strings), legato, marcato, spicc. It is all written in a way to maximize the virtuosic sound while maintaining a comfortability and playability. Morning Star Serenade expresses  a variety of emotions, displayed as an assortment of variations on a theme. It could be called a tone poem with lots of motion, including an assortment of chord progession settings that make the themes into a kaleidescope of musical colors. There are also some fugal treatments of the theme, including an inverted motif. It's an advanced intermediate piece owing to the number of accidentals, dynamic changes and the counterpoint type movement in the instrument sections. Born and raised in Cyprus, an isolated Mediterranean island-state in Europe where the religious musical tradition (Greek Orthodox Christianity) relies solely on voices (no instruments used during services), I never had access to an Organ. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, there’s not a single Organ in my entire country. The first time I ever saw one was during my college years in New York – and it was love at first sight! I was fascinated by its sound capabilities, its mechanism, and the sheer skill required to play it. You can, therefore, understand how thrilled I am to have had the opportunity to write for this great instrument. I would like to sincerely thank Shannon Murphy and Austin Philemon for believing in my work, and for commissioning this piece. Both the Toccata and the Fugue are based on the same (but altered) motivic materials. The Toccata is a piece that was inspired by the idea that life is a continuous marathon, represented by the ‘mechanical’ sixteenth-note ostinato figure which never stops – despite the contrapuntal obstacles that are thrown within its path. The motive, however, does transform and adapt along the way, in order to make the best of the situation.  The Fugue, on the other hand, represents the cerebral aspect of life: the concept of choices. The ostinato motive of the Toccata has now morphed into the subject of the Fugue, which will be attacked by some violent chromatic enemies. This movement is an ode to the slow songs one may have experienced from a dance in the 1950’s.III. SwungFor quite some time I have been intrigued with early instrumental dances and this movement explores their defining characteristics while hinting at this work’s overall structure.IV. Posh, Prim, and ProperThis axiomatic propinquity of the Minuet and Trio is a coruscating combination of tonal and temporal creation. A suite as brilliant as this is but an inchoate one without homage to music’s finest moment. It is propitious that I elucidated an exposition featuring a Bach cello suite with motives from the Brahms Requiem in fugal counterpoint set against themes by Mahler.V. JigA trumpet player I was performing with was warming up before a concert and cascading a peculiar series of long tones in to the hall. The duo uses a number of seven chords and dissonances that resolve pleasantly in traditional harmonies. The violin carries the melody, while also filling in some rich counter melodies and chords, and the viola fills in a walking bass line with fun rhythms and chords that spice up the arrangement. There are a number of instances of 2 against 3, (duple and triple rhythms coexisting). The end of the piece sees the viola soloing on the melody for a few measures before the violin joins and the two parts play double stops to resolve in 4-part harmonies.
