Voice Duet Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576909 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Blues,Pop. 14 pages. David Warin Solomons #516085. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576909). I am so happy that smoking in enclosed public places is now illegal in the UK and in many other countries, but this song was written in the 1980s when people had to breath the pollution created by inconsiderate smokers, and, of course, there are still countries where this is the case. So I decided to publish the song even though the battle is thankfully won here. The sound sample is my own performance with some additional (un-notated) improvisations on cello and vibraphone. The pdf file contains the score and parts.  The music has also been arranged as an instrumental duo called Laid back bounce, also available on this site.  I went out this morning along the way to work  when without warning I was faced with clouds of murk  refrain: Sing Down with the smokers who infect the air with clouds hate their unthinking uncaring unblinking hate the stinking coughing crowds!  I went down to the station and was waiting for my train  but to my irritation the stinkers were there again.  [refrain]  Wouldn't it be pleasant to enjoy a drink in a theatre bar discussing the play  or wouldn't it be jolly just to sing along with pals in a cozy pub along the way  or wouldn't it be nice to go any where and not have to share with every breath some secondhand smoke and firsthand death.  [refrain]  I was eating my fav'rite curry but the air was getting thick and I felt I had to hurry because the smokers made me feel sick  [refrain]  It's fine bright hot and sunny and I'd love to have a drink  but why spend time and money where the smokers sit and stink?  [refrain]  Wouldn't it be pleasant just to pass the time at a social do or a meeting hall  or wouldn't it be jolly to dance the night away with the one you love at a disco or ball  wouldn't it be nice to go any where and not have to share with every breath some secondhand smoke and firsthand death  [refrain].

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1349231 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred,Traditional. 16 pages. Con Spirito Music #933976. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1349231). Three Evening Canticles were written as part of a setting of choral evensong for Church of the Holy Apostles - Anglican, Fort Worth, Texas. Metrical, mostly homophonic, and conservative in technical challenges and ranges, these canticles are accessible for small choirs and those of moderate ability, yet musically satisfying for large and accomplished groups. Phos Hilaron (“O Gladsome Lightâ€) is one of the earliest known Christian hymns (ca. 3rd-4th century) recorded outside of the Bible. Intended to be sung at the kindling of lights in the evening, it is sometimes known as the “lamp-lighting hymn†and has been adopted by some Anglican bodies as an optional invitatory canticle immediately preceding the psalm(s) appointed for the day.Magnificat (The Song of Mary) is a scriptural canticle based on an account in the Gospel of Luke (1:46-55). Mary, the expectant mother of Jesus, visits her cousin  Elizabeth, the expectant mother of John the Baptist, who will prophetically proclaim the coming of the Messiah. Elizabeth praises Mary for her faith and subjection to God’s will, and Mary responds, “My soul doth magnify the Lord ... for he that is mighty hath magnified me ... and his mercy is on them that fear him throughout all generations.†The Magnificat is said or sung immediately after the first lesson (scripture reading) in the service of evening prayer. Nunc Dimittis (The Song of Simeon) is also a scriptural canticle taken from Luke (2:29-32).  Simeon, a devout Jew, had been promised by the Holy Spirit that he would not die until he had seen the Messiah. When Mary and Joseph bring the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem for the ceremony of redemption of the firstborn son, Simeon takes the child into his arms and says “Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace ... for mine eyes have seen thy salvation.†The Nunc Dimittis is said or sung after the second lesson in evening prayer.Texts for these settings are from The Book of Common Prayer (2019), Traditional Language Edition, according to the use of the Anglican Church in North America, and they are largely the texts of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England.©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Flute - Digital Download SKU: A0.1016583 Composed by R. Currier III. Contemporary. 12 pages. R. Currier III #6114151. Published by R. Currier III (A0.1016583). This contemporary piece for flute choir is slightly unsettling and a little eerie in a drifty, floating way. The piece should be performed with no feeling of time or pulse. All five flute parts are of equal importance, and the piece can be scaled to accommodate any increment of five flutes: 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. In larger numbers, the total number of players does not need to be divisible by five, as the mass effect will cover any shortage of one flute on a part. Brass Ensemble,Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Digital Download SKU: A0.1495808 Composed by Richard John (Gb1) Thompson. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Traditional. 7 pages. Peet du Toit #1072337. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1495808). BANKS AND BRAES (O' BONNY DOON). AKA and see “Bonnie Doon,” Lost is My Quiet, Caledonian Hunt's Delight (The), Ye Banks and Braes. Scottish, Air and Waltz (6/8 or 3/4 time). The antiquarian William Chappell claims the tune is English on the strength of its being included in a Collection of English Songs by Dale (who published about 1780-1794) under the title Lost is my quiet. However, the collector John Glen (1891) relates a delightful story of the tune's origins involving the famous Scots poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796), who wrote to publisher George Thomson in 1794:Do you known the history of the air? It is curious enough. A good many years ago, Mr. James Miller, writer in your good own (Edinburgh), a gentleman whom, possibly, you know, was in company with our good friend Clarke; and taling of Scottish music, Miller expressed an ardent ambition to be able to compose a Scots air. Mr. Clarke, partly by way of a joke, told him to keep to the black keys of the harpsichord, and preserve some kind of rhythm, and he would infallibly compose a Scots air. Certain it is, that, in a few days, Mr. Miller produced the rudiments of an air which Mr. Clarke, with some touches and corrections, fashioned into the tune in question. Ritson, you know, has the same story of the black keys; but this account which I have just given you, Mr. Clarke informed me of several years ago.Miller's tune was first published under the title Caledonian Hunt's Delight (The) in Gow's 2nd Collection (1788), but Glen concludes that it is more likely that Lost is my quiet is a poor adaptation and nothing else. He also notes there is a tune having a supposed resemblance in Playford's Appollo's Banquet (1690) entitled Scotch Tune (A) (No. 68), but in the end he believes that neither Chappell's arguments nor facts are strong enough to deprive Mr. Miller of his claim. The Caledonian Hunt's Delight appears also in George Thomson's A Select Collection of Original Scottish Airs for the Voice (Edinburgh, 1793-1797), arranged by Kozeluch. A rondo on the air was composed by Domenico Corri (1746-1825) under the title Favourite Irish Air (which, of course, it is not).

Currier III #6183835. Published by R. Currier III (A0.1016590). A perfect piece to inject a note of solemnity into a contemporary program, this work was composed as part of a multi-arts initiative at the New Britain Museum of American Art designed to bring attention to the issue of homelessness. All five instruments - flute, oboe, violin, cello and piano - feature equally in this work, and all are integral to its success. The piece features frequent shifts in meter, rubato sections where the feel of pulse and barline disappear, and percussive finger tapping on instrument bodies. Thanks for stopping by to check out outside. This lovely, lyrical, 50s-style ballad will take you right back to summer nights at the drive-in, poodle skirts, sock hops, and Little Richard on the jukebox. Arranged for saxophone quartet, (S, A, T, Bari), this original piece is great as a way to feature the sax players in a larger ensemble or a colorful addition to an all-quartet program. Any of the main sections of the piece can be repeated as a vehicle for improvisation. The download includes a transposed score, a full set of parts, and a standard, concert-key lead sheet. The baritone part does include a single, high F# in an exposed melodic section, so an F# key could come in handy. Thanks so much for stopping by to check out Lavender and Lemon Drops. Folk,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. 18 pages. James Pybus #6204723. Published by James Pybus (A0.764733). Arirang is arguably the most popular and best-known Korean folk song, both inside and outside Korea. Arirang is an ancient native Korean word with no direct modern meaning. 'Ari' means beautiful (For example the native Korean word 아리따운 means beautiful, lovely, charming) 'Rang' can mean dear. Origin of the title Many versions of the song open by describing the travails the subject of the song encounters while crossing a mountain pass. Arirang is one name for the pass and hence the title of the song. Some versions of Arirang mention Mungyeong Saejae, which is the main mountain pass on the ancient Joseon Dynasty road between Seoul and southeastern Gyeongsang Province. This arrangement is playable by a standard Woodwind Quintet. It is suitable for a variety of settings and concert programs. Duration is 4:00 Please contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.

His compositions set the standard for polyphonic music and are considered a high point in the history of music. He wrote a wide range of works, including masses, motets, and chansons, and was the first composer to set popular secular tunes as mass movements. His influence can be seen in the works of many later composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and George Frideric Handel.Josquin des Prez was a prolific composer of chamber music and duets during the Renaissance period. He wrote several types of chamber music and duets, including madrigals, chansons, and motets. His compositions are characterized by their intricate counterpoint, as well as their harmonic richness and emotional expressiveness. His works often featured two voices in harmony, and he was known to use imitation and complex canonic techniques to create interesting musical textures. Counterpoint is a technique of combining two or more independent melodies in a way that creates harmony and a cohesive musical texture. Josquin was a master of this technique, often combining multiple voices in complex contrapuntal textures. His use of canon, or round, was also highly influential. Canon involves two or more voices repeating the same melody in different registers and often with different rhythms. Josquin wrote canons in various styles and forms, including the popular “circular canon†and the more complex “strict canon.†He was also an early adopter of the “inverted canon†form, in which the same melody is repeated but in an inverted form. Josquin des Prez (c.1450-1521) was a composer of the Renaissance period, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. Josquin's chamber music and duets are renowned for their complexity and beauty, and they remain some of the most influential and admired works from the Renaissance period. Josquin Desprez is widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the Renaissance period. His innovative use of counterpoint and canon helped to revolutionize the musical landscape of the time. Josquin’s use of counterpoint and canon had a lasting impact on the development of Western music and helped to establish the foundation for many of the musical forms and techniques still used today.Contents: I.
