A song full of rejection and outpouring of grief. Our rejected lover weeps floods of tears and watches them freeze in the snow. His thoughts of spring when the snow will melt and carry his tears through the street to the one he still loves.

Alto trombone takes the lead in this arrangement, its gorgeous tone almost crying out like our lover. Wagner tubas join horns to add sonority to the setting with other instruments creating further depth and range.

HONKIN’ HORNS by Joe Procopio HONKIN’ HORNS is an exclusive solo for two saxophones based on the shuffle beat - known as the Shag down South. It is exciting Dance Music with a swing feel and was extremely popular in the Fifties. The Shag is still popular in the Carolinas and remains the State Dance for South Carolina. The accompanying violin and piano are characters in their own right and use word painting to highlight the emotional text. Scottish snare adds drama! The vocal writing uses different effects to ensure each verse has its own impact and expression. Sure to be a favourite with intermediate and higher level treble choirs!
