Tenor Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.979429

Composed by John Christopher Yount. Arranged by John Christopher Yount. Pop. 8 pages. John Christopher Yount #2027641. Published by John Christopher Yount (A0.979429).

The Rain in Summer is a poem that I wrote some time ago after Verlaine's Il Pleure Dans Mon Coeur, which I first studied in high school French literature classes. The Rain in Summer is a plaintive cry to a love that is feared to have been lost, a love which comes and goes as thunderstorms in the summer months. This particular piano/vocal is dedicated to Jesus and the ache one feels as the longing for the return of the savior is entertained, just as if one were enjoying a summer tea with a great love that one fears to lose at the end of a stormy summer season.

SKU: A0.913945

Composed by Arthur Breur. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Floating Home Music #3454291. Published by Floating Home Music (A0.913945).

Here is the piece Arthur Breur composed for the family and friends of Zayne Shomler, December 14, 1998 - February 8, 2016.  Prior to performing the piece, he spoke to the assembled mourners with the following prepared text:

It does no disservice to laugh or smile - or, yes, to cry - when remembering Zayne. He is a part of your life and always will remain so. You carry him into your future with you.

Likewise, it does him no service to unjustly obsess over things that are now unchangeable. Things said that cannot be unsaid. Things done that cannot be undone. Things not done that you feel you should have done. It does not serve Zayne or anyone to beat yourself up over such things, because then you just carry pain and sadness into your future with you, when you could be carrying -and sharing-the joy, the love, and the lessons you learned from having Zayne in your life for the time that you did.

All that you can do is what you can do now. Let those who are here now know that you love them and you are here for them. Be here for them now, and be here with them every moment you can into the future.

There is a very powerful and meaningful quote by the late author, Terry Pratchett: No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away... I personally find great hope and comfort in that saying. Do your best to make as many ripples in the world as possible-heck, make a splash! Touch as many lives as possible. Remember those who created ripples that touched your life, and to keep those ripples going for as long as it is in your power to do so.

You carry Zayne into your future with you. In you. You carry him into the future by Remembering Zayne and sharing the good that he brought into your life, so that the ripples he made continue to go out and touch others through you.

CHORUS

Lovin’ and Livin’, Livin’ and Lovin’, Lovin’ and Livin’ it’s just a game.

Lovin’ and Livin’, Livin’ and Lovin’, Lovin’ and Livin’ it’s all the same.

Verse

When you love one, it's hard enough,

But when you love two, it's double trouble.

The first one can be, so much fun,

The second one, makes you run and run.

It is brand new, for her and you,

But please don't worry, it's part of life.

Verse

Well we talk about, the way it was, And we talk about, the way it should be.

And we talk about, the way it is,

And we talk about, the way it could be.

Verse

It seems to me, if your gonna play, you need to play, a certain way,

and it's not for me, to tell you how, you need to find the path yourself.

Verse

Well You feel inside, about the potential, and you cry in-

side, of the consequential a philosopher, I am not, you need to

do, what your passion tells you.

2017 Holiday Contest Entry

NEMESIS

I enter the room of my consciousness

That incredible disorder

I rummage through the drawers

Where I keep sufferings

And the ineradicable memories

Dust that knows of regret

Spider webs cover my time,

I recompose pieces of life

But I'm here for you

Fleeting shadow

And my face reflects, Inside you

My nemesis, my alter ego

You reflect me and then

Are a dark ghost

The imperfect and the unsaid

I will let you be what you are,

My soul, black and rending.

If you destroy my image

It does not matter

Finally that door remains open

And opening the border between dream and reality

I stumble among people at my funeral

Who cry, who laugh,

It is my Carnival

I look at them from above, a spectral profile

Rush down into the void that I have inside

Nobody hugs me, I touch the silence,

Slow-motion of a movie without more viewers,

Close the curtain of the world outside and ... and ...

The snow falls , how cold it is

For this actress without identity

I escape from the frost of my uncertainties

But there is no refuge save me from she

Who is heat, but to hurt

Is my animal instinct

I'm alone in this storm

But certainly I do not regret

Your mood swings, your sterile love

Even without, I will survive

My nemesis now dominates

Be careful! If she comes for you

She destroys you, crushes you, is cruel and savage,

And then she will laugh in your face

And sitting here on the bank of my river

I'm waiting for you to pass this way

Naked and without arrogance

I'll never get enough

This dance that gives me joy

And in the darkness I move safe and stealthy  (what are you?)

I'm not afraid of anything and I feel wicked  (you are lost now)

Souls dancing to the beat of their sins  (you like us)

In this limbo I disown my past days  (and so will you be...)

Wind and storm

I'm not just this,

The rumble of thunder

I don't understand any longer which side I’m on

And it goes against the wind and sharpens my torment

I'm hungry for the Sun

Nemesis cannot dominate me

My nemesis is here,

Is stronger than ever

And I know that she is reaching for me

And it’s she who does not know

Ever to stop halfway,

Is Lady of Vice and Deception

She seizes me , she exhausts me because

She does not accept the peace that I have inside

She has no balance,

Makes me waver,

And frustrates what I have achieved

Tell me that you'll disappear

As a dream in the morning light

And will be, within me,

A memory clouded by time

I leave the room of my consciousness

To make order is impossible

Strange this drawer, not only sufferings

But something relentless

Nemesis, it is no longer your time

By now your fire is spent

And I will be born again to enchantment

By words and music

Food for the soul ...

Monica Bergo

La nemesi
now your fire is spent

And I will be born again to enchantment

Composed by Tiffany Prochera. Arranged by Tiffany Prochera. Children,Christmas,Holiday. Score. 79 pages. Swimming Tigress Music #1073003. Published by Swimming Tigress Music (A0.1496482).

I Don't Like Winter and Other Songs to Celebrate the Winter Season is a collection of 11 songs for young singers filled with tunes about all aspects of the winter season - from skating alone on the pond in the backyard, picking out presents for siblings,  spending time with the family, embracing the cold, wanting to escape the cold, going to visit Santa for the first time, and being so enthusiastic to celebrate all of the special days that happen at this time of year!

This collection was inspired by a voice teacher friend of mine - serendipitously also named Tiffany  :-) -  who was looking for songs about the season that were non-traditional and relatable to a wider range of singers. It's my pleasure to offer up some options!

I had so much fun writing these songs and I hope students, teachers, and audiences alike enjoy them just as much! May you laugh as you state your case to go on a winter vacation.  May you cry at the idea of wearing a special hat made with a grandmother's love. May you be left  breathless with joy as you glide on a frozen pond with no one else around.  In addition to all of these brand-spankin' new tunes, I also included the previously-released  Everyone's a Kid at Christmas because, well, it's a hoot!

These are crowd pleasers perfect for holiday recitals, and some can be performed in a group as well as solos.

A note for teachers: These songs do have varying ranges. I, for the most part, notated them as I conceived of them. But I did my best to provide alternate pitches in case the melody goes a little high or a little low. So, I invite to you peruse a song in it's entirety and see where there may be options even if the designated range may seem a little wide. It is my intention to make these songs as accessible to as many singers as possible.

Composed by Various, Traditional. Arranged by Samantha J Bramley - stringspirational@gmail.com. Children,Christmas. Score and parts. 25 pages. Samantha Bramley #3877327. Published by Samantha Bramley (A0.800202).

The Holiday Season can be really painful for lower string players in any ensemble. Playing ‘cello in a Carol concert makes me want to cry. That is why I have created arrangements of classic Christmas Carols and Songs guaranteed not to bore the pants off your violist or ‘cellist. No more bashing out bass notes for the ‘cello, and no more chugging away on the off-beat for viola while the fiddles get soaring melody after soaring counter-melody. We deserve more than this, right guys? You got it!

Noël Re-Nouvellé

Pot pourri des chants de Noëls Français les plus populaires pour trio à cordes. Durée de six minutes à la vitesse proposée.

A jolly romp through some of the most popular French language carols, Noël Re-Nouvellé is a medley for string trio lasting 6 minutes at given tempo. With optional 2nd violin for viola part.

Written with interest in all three parts, and taking turns with melody and accompaniment, this is a very enjoyable arrangement for ensembles of intermediate ability. If you have a great viola player or bored ‘cellist s/he will love this! Contains some double stopping of open and stopped strings.

1.    Joie dans le monde - Joy to the World

2.    Quittez, Pasteurs - Shepherds, Leave your Flocks

3.    Entre le bÅ“uf et l'âne gris - The Ox and the Grey Donkey

4.    La Marche des Rois Mages - March of the Magi Kings

5.    Il est né, le Divin Enfant  - He is Born, the Divine Christ Child

6.    Noël Nouvelet  - Traditional French Folk Carol

7.    Les Anges dans nos campagnes - Angels from the Realms of Glory

8.    Vive le vent d’hiver - Jingle Bells

9.    C’est Noël - Deck the Halls

10. O Venez, les Fideles - O Come All Ye Faithful

11. On se dit Joyeux Noël  - We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Note from the arranger: All my arrangements for strings are conceived specifically with the aim of writing interesting parts for all players. Most parts do not go beyond 4th position (with the exception of a few harmonics in the lower string parts), making them suitable for student and mixed ability groups. A complete score and set of individual parts (violin, violin 2, viola, ‘cello) is included. Enjoy and feel free to email comments or requests for other works to stringspirational@gmail.com

By Reinhold Behringer. By Traditional. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary,Traditional. 44 pages. David Warin Solomons #1048222. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1470559).

An arrangement for piccolo and orchestra of the Barbara Allen folk song with many interesting cadences, harmonies and countermelodies.

In Scarlet Town where I was born,
There was a fair maid dwelling,
Made every youth cry, “Well-a-day”,
Her name was Barbara Allen.

All in the merry month of May,
When green buds they were swelling,
Young Willy Grove on his death bed lay,
For love of Barbara Allen.

He sent his man down unto her then,
To the town where she was dwelling.
“You must come to my master dear,
If your name's Barbara Allen.”

So slowly, slowly she came up,
And slowly she came nigh him,
And all she said when there she came,
“Young man I think you’re dying.”

[“A dying man, no, no,” said he,
“One kiss from thee would cure me.”
“One kiss from me thou never shalt have,
If your poor heart was breaking.”]

He turned his face unto the wall,
And death was drawing nigh him,
“Adieu, adieu, my dear friends all,
And be kind to Barbara Allen.”

As she was walking o’er the fields,
She heard the dead-bell knellin’;
And every stroke did seem to say
“Unworthy Barbara Allen!”

When he was laid dead in his grave,
Her heart was struck with sorrow,
“Oh mother, mother make my bed,
For I shall die tomorrow.”

And on her death bed she lay,
She begged to be buried by him,
And so repented of the day,
That she did e’er deny him.

“Farewell”, she said, “You virgins all,
And shun the fault I fell in.
Hence forth take warning by the fall,
Of cruel Barbara Allen.”.

Arrangement of Tell My Father for Brass Band - featuring Euphonium, Trombone, and Eb Bass soloists.

Tell My Father from the musical Civil War is a heartwrenching song sung by a soldier wishing to let his father know that he died a man.

Lyrics:
Tell my father that his son
Didn’t run or surrender
That I bore his name with pride
As I tried to remember
You are judged by what you do
While passing through

As I rest ‘neath fields of green
Let him lean on your shoulder
Tell him how I spent my youth
So the truth could grow older
Tell my father, when you can
I was a man

Tell him we will meet again
Where the angels learn to fly
Tell him we will meet as men
For with honour did I die

Tell him I wore the blue
Proud and true, through the fire
Tell my father so he’ll know
I love him so

Tell him how I wore the blue
Just the way that he taught me
Tell my father not to cry
Then say goodbye
