Set in D Mixolydian mode (major scale with a flat seventh) and including an Andante and Allegro section, the contrasting harmonies and style set the mood of an enchanted forest where anything can happen. The Praeludium from Suite No 3 in A minor is originally for unaccompanied Cello solo by Max Reger (1873-1916, written 1914). For this unaccompanied duet arrangement the melody was creatively deconstructed into two parts that continuously interact as if each instrument is finishing the other's thoughts. The harmonies are inspired by the original double stops. The arrangement remains stylistically faithful to Reger's use of constantly shifting dynamics and ever-present expression marks. This 4 1/2 minute work is a worthy challenge for a serious concert or recital. A new approach to this Masterwork of the repertoire. A live performance will be considerably freer and more expressive than the temporary MIDI recording attached. Range - same note range for both parts which is a wide 2 1/2 octaves. 5 page score, 3 pages each part.

A gorgeous, thoughtful rendition of an old Christmas classic. Silent Night is said to have been composed by a priest and an organist in Austria on a Christmas Eve, making this a perfect piece to play at a party or at a church service surrounding the holidays.

The wind versions of this arrangement have been designed to be flexible with 3-6 parts, depending upon the size of your ensemble. The larger noteheads should be played for trios, and the smaller noteheads can be added for larger groups where two or more people are sharing parts for a fuller sound.
