Easier Piano Solos. A gentle and lyrical piano solo that is accessible to pianists of moderate ability. The Violet Dale mostly lies 'under the fingers' but suggested fingering help has been added for those who are attempting to tackle some more stretching repertoire. It is mostly in C major with a brief middle section that touches on C minor (3 flats). There is plenty of time to think about moving to new hand positions while technically it helps with keyboard geography and expressive playing. Ideal for home practice, for teenagers and adults, for lesson material or for concerts.

This piano solo is inspired by the openess and beauty of the countryside, in particular, The Violet Dale!

The symphony is composed in the Classical style, the themes being mostly well-known hymn tunes. The rest are Dale originals which just sound as if they should be hymn tunes. (People have made thorough searches without success.) There are four movements and the piece lasts about twenty minutes. THE SCORE AND EACH PART ARE AVAILABLE SEPARATELY.

Gordon was a good violinist. He played in the CBSO where he also doubled as their solo alto saxophone player when required. He was a very popular violin teacher. He wrote pieces for his pupils from beginners to advanced much of which can be found on the Piper Publications web site.
