Instrumental Duet Bassoon,Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956613 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 7 pages. C Melville-Mason #6477753. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956613). Slavonic Dances Op 46, written in 1878, was something of a breakthrough work for Czech composer Antonin Dvorak, finally establishing his reputation well beyond his native land.  The dances are original melodies, inspired by, and drawing on, the character of traditional national dances, rather than works based on existing folk tunes, as was the fashion among composers at around that time.  These Slavonic Dances were originally written for piano 4 hands but, at his publisher’s request, Dvorak produced orchestrated versions shortly thereafter.  The pieces proved so popular that Dvorak composed a second set, Op. 72, in 1886. Op. 46, No. 3 is in the form of the polka, a dance which originated in Bohemia.  This arrangement, for mixed woodwind duo of B-flat clarinet and bassoon, is best suited to players of advanced intermediate standard or above.

She composed a number of chamber pieces which included string quartets, piano trios, violin and piano sonatas and was one of the first female organists officially appointed in Scandanavia. This particular piano trio from 1894 lends itself beautifully to the tambres found in a saxophone quartet and is sure to delight your audience.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.809809 Composed by Robert E. Proctor. Contemporary,Renaissance. Score and parts. 255 pages. R. E. Proctor #3417093. Published by R. E. Proctor (A0.809809). Dance Suite for Orchestra is, as the title suggests, a suite of Renaissance period dances, seven in all.  The music is a nostalgic look back with modern nuances.  The dances are: Allemande, Bourree, Galliard, Gigue, Pavane, Saltarello, and Sarabande.  Not based on any particular Renaissance composer’s work, simply an echo of music of that time.  Although it is written for full orchestra, not all instruments are used in every movement.  As in the Renaissance, each dance movement can be played separately, or, a few dances performed together without the entire suite being performed.  As such, this work is being offered as the complete suite and as individual movements.  The entire work is approximately 20 minutes and 4 seconds in length.

Brass Quintet Baritone Horn TC,Bass Trombone,Cornet,Euphonium,Flugelhorn,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1239585 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. 19th Century,Classical,Folk,Romantic Period,Traditional. 32 pages. RBMusic #834940. Published by RBMusic (A0.1239585). The Hungarian Dances are some of Brahms’s most famous works. Completed in 1879, they were originally written for piano duet (one piano, four hands) and were very lucrative to him. Brahms published the dances in 4 books.Only 3 of the 21 lively dances are entirely original compositions (numbers 11, 14 and 16). Dance number 5, arranged here, was based on a composition by the Hungarian composer Béla Kéler, specifically the csárdás Bártfai emlék (Memories of Bártfa); it is thought the Brahms mistook this work for a traditional folksong. This arrangement includes alternative parts for tenor horn, treble-clef trombone/euphonium and tuba. Apart from dance number 5, these arrangements are in the original key; number 5 has been lowered by a semitone. A recording for piano duet can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJS0pHvDX4c.Other searchable terms: Johannes Brahms, 1869, F-sharp minor, F# minor, F minor, Allegro, Vivace, Hungary, Traditional.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1372535 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 19th Century,Romantic Period. 11 pages. RayThompsonMusic #956846. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1372535). Debussy: Danse bohémienne La Danse bohémienne (Bohemian Dance) is a piano piece composed in the late summer of 1880. This is the composer's first published piano work. It was judged by Tchaikovsky as follows...It's really a very nice thing, though really too short; not one thought is expressed through to the end and the form is extremely messy and devoid of wholeness ...  It was written when he was eighteen years old for Nadejda von Meck, Tchaikovsky's rich and generous patroness. Frank Dawes writes of the Danse bohémienne, there is perhaps a mild gipsiness that may have been picked up from the gipsy singers at the Moscow cabarets that Debussy is reputed to have frequented. In texture the piece has something of the salon style of Tchaikovsky, though very much simplified. This straightforward piece, in B minor and 2/4 time, isn't altogether without a few dashes of polka rhythm, but its only notable point of originality comes in the coda, where a tonic chord over a submediant pedal point highlights the interval of a major seventh, possible slightly Russian in character. The score was first published in 1932 by Schott (Maintence), then by Henle (1991, ed. Ernst-Günter Heinemann) and Durand (2000, ed. Roy Howat)It is arranged for standard wind quintet.
