Score. 3 pages. Juan Carlos Cortés Aguirre #712023. Published by Juan Carlos Cortés Aguirre (A0.1109668). Original composition in G minor by: JUAN CARLOS CORTES A. Composition (Old Bunde or Fandango Cienaguero) of a free character that does not intend to fit into the orthodox and pure style of the Baroque or Renaissance, but rather to use these musical elements as simple playful exercises to the delight of those who compose and the concern of those who listen to them. It reiterates what was expressed in the previous compositions of this class, that: Although it may seem like it, it is not about emulating the great Juan Sebastián Bach, rather when composing in this style an eternal tribute of gratitude and admiration is paid for the majesty and perfection of his work, as many musicians have done in the world through history...

Small Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522176 Composed by Pierre Phalèse. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance. Score and parts. 24 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6088869. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522176). Pierre Phalèse (1510-1575) was a Flemish publisher and his First Book of Dances, an extensive collection of dances in four parts, was published in Leuven in 1571. They are attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. These are the thirteenth and fourteenth dances in the original publication. This arrangement is scored for virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments and percussion, with optional keyboard part. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. The flexible arrangement makes them playable by all sorts of non-standard ensembles. The optional keyboard part enables you to use the piece as a solo or duet and trio for mixed instruments. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and two players are usually required. Other percussion instruments may be added as desired. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.

2fl. Pft. - Intermediate-Advanced - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM393 Composed by Max Bruch. Arranged by Robert Rainford. Two Flutes and Piano. Score and Parts. 31 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM393. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM393). ISBN 9790570482924.Two Flutes and Piano - These dances were first published in 1892 for violin and piano, although Bruch later arranged them for solo piano, and also for orchestra. The slow, stately introduction leads in to seven dances in volume one, each a charming character study. Individual movements are dramatic, then tranquil; dance-like then reflective. The third, fifth and seventh movements have the feeling of folk-dances, while the others are more lyrical and expressive. Structurally the pieces are fairly simple, with melody sections flowing in to each other. Some ideas are developed into links and codas. In this arrangement, both players share the melodic material fairly evenly. Each has a solo movement to play, with the other movements featuring call and answer moments, harmony sections and contrapuntal elements to enjoy. Technically quite advanced, with the first flute covering the whole range of the instrument, these gems of pieces are well worth working on.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1343777 Composed by Alexander Borodin. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 19th Century,Broadway,Classical,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,Musical/Show,World. 264 pages. John Ivor Holland #929284. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1343777). The Polovtsian Dances form an exotic scene at the end of act 2 of Alexander Borodin's opera 'Prince Igor'. The work remained unfinished when the composer died in 1887, although he had worked on it for more than a decade. A performing version was prepared by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Glazunov in 1890. Several other versions, or completions, of the opera have been made. The dances are sometimes performed with chorus and last around 11 minutes. Themes from the Polovtsian Dances have been used widely in popular culture, notably the 1953 musical 'Kismet'; the most prominent example is the popular standard Stranger in Paradise, adapted from the Gliding Dance of the Maidens, which opens this piece. This great piece, a staple of the orchestral repertoire, would form a substantial showpiece in any concert and important solos have been cross-cued for smaller ensembles.
