Clarinet Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1211277

Composed by Marin Marais. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Baroque,Christmas. 6 pages. RayThompsonMusic #808919. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1211277).

Arranged clarinet trio 2 Bb and one bass

The French composer Marin Marais composed the tune as a dance for his opera Alcyone of 1706, with the title Marche pour les Matelots.

The tune was subsequently included in Raoul Auger Feuillet's 1706 Recueil de contredanse along with a longways proper dance, La Matelotte, which Feuillet had himself written to go with the tune.

In 1710 John Essex (d. 1744) published an English translation of Feuillet's work called, For the Further Improvement of Dancing, in which the dance is given as The Female Saylor.

The words were written around 1860 while William Morris, then 26, was working as an apprentice in the office of the architect, Edmund Street, presumably under the persuasion of his fellow students who at that time had a taste for part-song. It became known as the Christmas Carol Masters in This Hall (alternative title: Nowell, Sing We Clear)

Gustav Holst incorporated the carol into his work Three Carols (1916–17) along with Christmas Song: On this Day and I Saw Three Ships. Holst wrote the Three Carols for amateurs singing in his Thaxted festivals.

I have arranged the March and 3 of the Sailor's Airs from the opera for clarinet trio, The march is then reprised to complete the arrangement.

By Lars Ek. By Pietro Frosini. Arranged by Lars Ek. Folk,Multicultural,World. Full Performance. Duration 220. Lars Ek Cosmos Music c/o Musik & Underhållningsskrädderiet AB #1921483. Published by Lars Ek Cosmos Music c/o Musik & Underhållningsskrädderiet AB (A0.1068891).

A setting of a poem by René de Saint-Prest. Edited by Jared Schwartz and Mary Dibbern.
Recorded on Ange Flégier: Mélodies for Baritone Voice and Piano.
Toccata Classics, 2016. In d minor Duration: aprox. 5 minutes 00 seconds

Le renversa sur le chemin;

Qui remplit l’air de cris affreux;
Puis on croit voir briller des feux.
C’est l’âme du baron qu’avec lui, sur la terre,
La nuit, Satan traîne en tous lieux;

Sharktooth Frenzy (2014, 4')
solo pianist with snare drum and bass drum.
For Danny Holt. Composed at The Hermitage Artist Retreat.

I wrote Sharktooth Frenzy for Danny Holt in January 2014, while in residence at The Hermitage Artist Retreat in Manasota Key, Florida, a special place, paleotologically, because fossilized shark teeth from up to 50 million years ago wash up on the beach here every day. Around 50 million years ago, Florida was completely under the ocean, and layers of limestone accumulated to create the bed rock of Florida. Starting around 30 million years ago, as the Earth cooled, sea levels dropped and Orange Island emerged in what is now north central Florida. 10 million years later, in the Miocene period, tectonic activity forced uplift around Orange Island and Florida began to resemble the land mass it is today. The coastal area was still covered by a shallow sea, but land animals lived inland. Further north the Appalachian Mountains were forming and sediment was flowing into Florida making very nutrient rich waters, which sank to the bottom of these shallow seas entombing dead marine animals and teeth from sharks (sharks loose teeth frequently, going through up to 30,000 in their lives). This continued until around 5 million years ago. There is an abundance of these fossilized teeth and other bones in the Peace River Formation and Myakka River, which washes out into the gulf each day, and then subsequently the fossils wash up onto the beaches of Manasota Key and Venice Beach. So while I was composing this piece for Danny, I was also obsessively collecting shark teeth. I’d go out each day as the tide was retracting and collect hundreds, actually thousands, of teeth. And it was a bit of a frenzy. So I decided this piece had to be about this process, collecting as many teeth as I could find and coming back to write music!

Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 19th Century,Romantic Period. 14 pages. RayThompsonMusic #1066905. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1490042).

The Fantasies (German Fantasien), Op. 116 for solo piano were composed by Johannes Brahms in the Austrian town of Bad Ischlduring the summer of 1892.

The set consists of seven pieces entitled Capriccio or Intermezzo, though Brahms originally considered using Notturno for No. 4 and Intermezzo for No. 7.

The pieces were published by N. Simrock in December 1892, and represent the end of Brahms's long break from composing piano pieces.

The seven pieces are:

Capriccio in D minor. Presto energico
Intermezzo in A minor. Andante
Capriccio in G minor. Allegro passionato
Intermezzo in E major. Adagio (This one)
Intermezzo in E minor. Andante con grazia ed intimissimo sentimento
Intermezzo in E major. Andantino teneramente
Capriccio in D minor. Allegro agitato

This is my arrangement of No. 4 Intermezzo in E for standard wind quintet.

Clarinet part  is for Clt in A. (An alternative Bb part is provided).

IL PRIMO GIORNO DELL’APOCALISSE (OLTRE L’ORIZZONTE)

Gente che invade le strade

Siamo d’estate e la neve cade

Nell’aria oscuri presagi

Lancette ferme negli orologi

Chi piange, chi ride, chi canta , chi prega

campane suonate, tamburi rullate

Oltre l’orizzonte ti vorrei portare

Non sarebbe bello? Tra campi di fiori

Noi sopravvissuti ,nell’eden perduto

Soltanto per noi

Dimmi che lo vuoi

E sarebbe vita e nuova occasione

E sarebbe gioia e non più prigione

Incontaminati, senza più peccati

Dimmi una bugia e portami via

Da questo tragico presente

Dall’Armagghedon imminente

Angeli cantano in coro

Mi metto in fila, vado con loro

Ma tra la folla il tuo viso

E Chi se ne frega del paradiso

Maschere bianche mi sbarrano il passo

Io grido , ti chiamo, ma tu sei lontano

Lo strato d’ozono è ormai inesistente

La pelle si brucia

Il caldo è asfissiante

Ognuno parla una lingua diversa

moderna Babele, la torre è riapparsa

Frammenti di Bibbia, la Genesi insegna

Per ogni peccato, la giusta condanna

Non mi aspettavo che tutto finisse

Ma è l’ultimo giorno dell’Apocalisse

Il genere umano , si estingue stanotte

La terra oltraggiata, alla fine ci inghiotte

Sarebbe bello morire abbracciati

I nostri 2 corpi in eterno avvinghiati

Oltre l’orizzonte non posso guardare

Il sole che esplode

Continuo a ballare

La morte che avanza

Una tragica danza

Oltre l’orizzonte ti ritroverò
