RH starts in G five-finger position, LH - with one exception at the end - stays in Middle C position for the entire piece. No 5th fingers are used. The counting is straightforward - quarter notes, and eighth note pairs. The articulation is predictable: quarter notes staccato or (rarely) tenuto, eighth notes legato. A Gavotte is a dance, so it is probably most important to pay attention to very crisp and bouncy staccato notes.
