This is an easy (yet still very cool!) arrangements of the great Miles tune from Kind Of Blue, for SSAA jazz singers and rhythm section. The first verse features the melody, sung by a soloist, with the 2 part accompaniment fans of the album will recognize. The second verse expands the arrangement a bit, then leads into the solo section (for any soloist, vocal or instrumental, with vocal backgrounds.) A vocalese shout chorus follows, and the chart ends much as the original does. A master rhythm part is included. Students and audiences alike will really enjoy this chart, and it comes together quickly in rehearsal.

Three song cycle for soprano voice, piano and cello. The text is taken from the Old Testament book of Jeremiah. Each of the three movements showcases the range, control and expression of all three performers. The first is a somber lament featuring lush chords and soft high A for the soprano soloist. The second is a fast and frenetic, high-energy presto in compound meter with a forte high B. The final piece is an emotive, stirring and heart-rending anthem taking the soloist to a high C at the soaring climax. The cycle ends as it began. A challenge for exemplary musicians. Contains full score, piano/vocal part and cello part.

BRAVEHEART THEME for piano, in the key of Gb

The main theme of Braveheart begins with soft flute-like melody notes against a quiet background.  A fragment of the Scottish tune Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair weaves its way into the bottom of page one, and then deep chords at the top of page two give a low and ominous premonition of battle. 

Slowly it builds with bigger chords.  Dissonances compete in the melody and harmony, always building.  Big octave-plus-fifth left hand chords give a medieval sound.

The flavor of Braveheart, the movie, is captured in this arrangement.  Not too difficult, but with a few challenges, this is a satisfying piece to play over and over again, emotions soaring and always feeling like you are there with William Wallace in the fight for FREEDOM.

Two versions in different keys (F & Gb), but otherwise identical.  The arrangement in F is much easier, of course, and easier to read.  Though most of the music remains in the primary key (either F or Gb) Braveheart travels rapidly through several key transitions on pages 2-3 in the key of F, and pages 2-4 in the key of Gb.

Though the key of F is easier, the key of Gb seems to have a special magic, as piano pieces utilizing the black keys frequently do!  The piano recording heard in the video is performed in the key of Gb.

A passacaglia is ... a musical form that is usually of a serious character and is often, but not always, based on a bass-ostinato and written in triple meter. from Wikipedia. THIS PASSACAGLIA is a slow theme and variations, in a minor mode, with a bass ostinato. THE ONLY difficult part is dealing with the counterpoint, but it is worth the effort, it will impress your audience, and is fun to play. I HAVE 3 versions; this one is for piano, viola and double bass. It also works well with cello instead of bass. I HAVE uploaded a PDF with the Viola, Double Bass, Cello and Piano parts. ALSO, I have uploaded a STRING ORCHESTRA version, with parts, and a MAMBO version for Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, String Bass and 4-part Latin percussion, with parts. You could make a whole concert out this one piece!

It Well With My Soul for small Concert Band. Includes score and parts: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax 1, Alto Sax 2, Bb Trumpet, Trombone (or Baritone), Mallets, Bass Drum, and Cymbals.

When I arranged this, I only had early elementary clarinet players so that part is entirely written below the break. It can be taken up an octave for more advanced players. There is a flute solo for your best flute player, it could also be omitted if necessary. The mallet part could also be omitted in a pinch.

It Is Well With My Soul is a hymn penned by hymnist Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss. First published in Gospel Songs No. 2 by Ira Sankey and Bliss (1876), it is possibly the most influential and enduring in the Bliss repertoire and is often taken as a choral model, appearing in hymnals of a wide variety of Christian fellowships.

Horatio Spafford's original lyrics are included below. I had verses 1, 2, 3, and 6 in mind for this arrangement:

When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to know
