This Duet based on an original tune by David Catherwood was written for and first performed by David Daws (Euphonium) and David Thomas (Cornet) in 2015 the download includes separate parts for Cornet and Euphonium in Bb (Shown in the preview pages) and a separate piano accompaniment (not shown in the preview)

Scherzo for Double Bass and String Orchestra/String Quartet  ‘Tembo’

The bass instruments are sometimes overlooked when it comes to solo repertoire so ‘Tembo’ is a fun piece designed to feature the bass.

Tembo is an African word for elephant and this piece was inspired by the famous bass solo ‘The Elephant’ from Saint-Saëns’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’ 

This arrangement for bass and string orchestra/string quartet allows the bass to shine over the whole range of the instrument in a playful way as indicated by the term Scherzo.
