SMS: Brass quartet for two trumpets and two trombones (opt horn and BHTC) The open passage presents the melodic motif amongst the parts which sets it up for the first presentation of the melody in the trumpets with a gentle contrapuntal fill of the low brass. This continues throughout the entire section. The second section is rich in counterpoint with strong emotion with movement in all parts. The final section is reminiscent of the first which transition to a gentle coda establishing repose.

An accompanied trumpet trio beginning with a piano introduction. The first section is a blocked harmony in the trumpets with the first carrying the melody. The second section uses the same underlying rhythmic patterns but now the structure is in a different meter (quadruple vs the previous triple) which gives an extended feeling. A couple modulations take place and the style becomes smooth and expressive. This all leads towards the Coda where the whole premise shifts the moods of the beginning where it increases in tension and ends with solid impact.

Emotive setting of the early American classic. The opening is plaintive in the piano and then joined in with a counter-tune where it then presents the theme in a straight-forward manner. The next section uses the counter-theme again and then presents the theme in an embellished manner. Again the counter-theme is present followed by the embellished theme. After a brief interlude the piece picks up again with the counter-theme where it slowly and quietly settles in repose.

The introduction begins with a “bubbling motive which leads into the tune stated in the lower voices with responses interspersed in the upper voices. After a short flourish the melodic material resurfaces like the beginning. A modulated interlude is tossed about leading into a another modulation with extraneous motives. And yet, another modulation where the melody is more staid until it leads into another modulation which acts as a coda concluding with a celebratory flourish.
