Although Arcadelt wrote hundreds of madrigals during his lifetime, his most famous madrigal is Il bianco e dolce cigno (The white and gentle swan). The poem he set was written by Giovanni Guidiccioni, and was originally written for 4 parts. This arrangement features each member of the brass quintet, giving the ensemble an opportunity to perform a Renaissance piece in a choral style.
