Cello - Digital Download SKU: A0.1103222 By Ölveti Mátyás and Mády-Szabó Eszter. By David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical. Full Performance. Duration 190. David Warin Solomons #706118. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1103222). Duo inspired by a poem by Jacques Prévert: Le Bouquet Que faites-vous là petite fille Avec ces fleurs fraîchement coupées? J'attends le vainqueur [What are you doing there, little girl, With those freshly cut flowers ? What are you doing there, young girl, With those dried flowers ? What are you doing there, pretty woman, With those faded flowers ? What are you doing there, old woman, With those dying flowers ? I'm waiting for the victorious one] In my mind there were initially several possible interpretations of the poem My original thoughts were that le vainqueur means the conquering Christ and that the woman is waiting all her life with flowers before a church - waiting in vain for her saviour another possibility is that the woman is waiting for the winner of her affections it could even be that le vainqueur refers to the invading German army but this would not explain the fact that she waits all her life but, finally, as Raphaèle Larazoni suggests, (and more plausibly in view of other poems by Prévert) the vainqueur is simply the winner in a war - there is never really a winner in a war, so the woman waits all her life in vain.

Cello - Digital Download SKU: A0.1103564 By Ölveti Mátyás and Mády-Szabó Eszter. By David Warin Solomons. Chamber,Contemporary. Full Performance. Duration 194. David Warin Solomons #706833. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1103564). Instrumental Duo based on my setting of Marie Keyser's Poem La Tour de Hölderlin Elle est près du fleuve dormeur debout mais le saule incliné toucherait de sa cîme l'eau L'église vieille dit les heures de l'île où la nuit descend Je la vois encore son toit de gris dans le gris de l'eau. pressens dans la tour de bois ma demeure la folie la folie le silence clos clos vigilance Oh Ne pas altérer ce qui reste qui reste, et le doit. Was bleibt aber stiften die Dichter. (It stands by the sleepy river But the bending willow would touch the water with its very top The church - an old church - tells the hours from the island where the night descends I can still see it, its grey roof in the grey of the water I have a presentiment in the tower of wood, of my dwelling place, of madness, of silence Closed in, closed in but keeping watch Oh never change what remains and should remain Was bleibt aber stiften die Dichter.....) [What remains, however, is the stuff of poetry This quote from Hölderlin himself is reflected in the second cello at bars 43 to 45] Performed by Ölveti Mátyás and Mády-Szabó Eszter of Budapest Scoring Cellos.

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.575717 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Children,Contemporary. Octavo. 12 pages. David Warin Solomons #2027153. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.575717). Duet based on the anonymous English poem about a centipede - the creature was quite happy with its hundred legs until a frog asked it to think about which leg comes after which... it then lay distracted in a ditch considering how to run... The sound sample is the English version, sung in B flat It can be sung by two solo voices or by a two part choir of any kind. Versions are available in English (B flat major and D major) German (F major and D major) and in French (F major and D major) the pdf file contains all of these versions. A video of the English original (in B flat) can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo25CSSE5eU These are the words of my French version of the song Un cent-pattes était bien content Mais la grenouille l'interroge «Comment sais-tu quelle patte va avant C'est la gauche ou droite ou quoi?» These are the words of my German version of the song Einem Hundertfüßler ging's ganz wohl Bis ein Frosch ihn schlau befragte Weisst du welcher Fuss nach vorne geht?

Violin and piano - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1525 Composed by David Braid. Score and part. 32 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1525. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1525). Life - Still Life, Op. 165 (violin & piano) - David BraidI am keen on concise musical forms such as Prelude and Fugue, where there is one clear straightforward idea, followed by another that is more involved & developed. In keeping with that idea, this work consists of two distinct pieces, the first - Transfigured Life - aims to draw in the listener with its quick, dancing rhythm and simple, melodic violin part. It 'transfigures' via a few short solo piano interludes into just two alternating notes to end - which are the core of the original idea, now made clear by clearing everything else out of the way.The second piece - Still Life - retains its sense of stillness through an uncomplicated piano line that gives lots of space for the violin's contrasting (but again simple) part. As an absolute, not programmatic, piece the title refers to the atmospheric colour and pacing only; it's up to the listener to see 'Still life' of their choosing in their own mind.A note on performance: Despite my reference to 'simple' lines, and the work's determined avoidance of mainstream modernist squeak - the work has certain performance challenges of phrasing and ensemble that requires considerable skill and musicianship. The work has had the privilege of being recently recorded by violinist Ezgi Sarıkcıoğlu and pianist Rossitza Stoycheva, and is available on all major platforms:https://open.spotify.com/album/6p5YIe17ci0UMuo2RqZgjRhttps://music.apple.com/gb/album/transfigured-life-still-life-world-premiere-recording/1738035953.

Alto Voice,Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1387471 By András Csáki (guitar) and Bernadett Nagy (alto). By David Warin Solomons. Contemporary. Full Performance. Duration 167. David Warin Solomons #971325. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1387471). This setting of Paul Verlaine's poem Nevermore plays on an ambiguity of major and minor modes, swaying back and forth between the tonal centres of G minor and E flat majorThe poem and English translation are as follows:Nevermore  Souvenir, souvenir, que me veux-tu? AutumnDrove the thrush up through the atonic airAnd the pale sun pierced in monotoneThe chill and windy woods and the leaf flare.Together but alone we went our ways,Hair blown awry and monad thoughts unfurled.Sudden she turned to me her tender gaze:What was your finest day? - a voice of gold,Dulcet and low, ineffable and fresh. And I said nothing, offered her a smile,Seized her pale hand and pressed a kiss.Ah those first flowers of spring how sweet they were,And that first whispered Yes, how it beguiled,Won from those lovely lips with gentle murmur.(c) S N Solomons.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.918169 By David Bowie. By Brian May, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. Arranged by Christy L'Esperance. Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Christy L'Esperance #6233065. Published by Christy L'Esperance (A0.918169). This 2-octave handbell or hand chime arrangement of Queen and David Bowie's Under Pressure is perfect for the forward-thinking, retro-appreciating bell ensemble.  Snaps and claps augment the texture, while shakes and a driving beat allow those bells to rock out.  The piece can be adapted to convert repeated sixteenths in the ostinato to single eighths if the tempo dictates.  This piece is useful in teaching syncopation as well as clean dampening. .
