One Tin Soldier is a 1960s counterculture-era anti-war song written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter. Canadian pop group The Original Caste first recorded it in 1969 for both the TA label and its parent Bell label. A 1971 cover was a hit in the U.S. for Jinx Dawson, lead vocalist of Coven, whose recording was featured in the film Billy Jack. The single went to number 26 on the Billboard pop chart.

This arrangement is for the Concert Band with optional parts for the Piano. Percussion Parts for Glockenspiel, Timpani, and Drum Set. There are parts for both Trombones 1-2 TC and BC, Euphonium TC and BC, and Tubas in C, Bb, and Eb.

Grade = 3 Duration = 4:40 mins.

The song was written by lead singer Walter Orange in collaboration with Dennis Lambert and Franne Golde, as a loving tribute to soul/R&B singers Jackie Wilson and Marvin Gaye, both of whom died in 1984. The first verse mentions Gaye's song What's Going On, while the second verse mentions Jackie Wilson's Baby Workout and (Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher.
