As each of the 4 verses enters, the texture thickens a little, and between verses two and three there is a big and uplifting key change and the tune climbs over an octave higher. With lots of imitation and a gentle flowing rhythm, this piece has something for each of the players to make their own. In the final verse, big flowing Spanish-sounding chords generate a massive wall of sound and the piece concludes with a slowed down end to the tune.This arrangement has featured in concerts in the UK for many years and it's become a real favorite with the audiences.I hope you enjoy playing it!

Guitar 4 has a fun and funky bass line. Guitar 1 goes quite high, but I have presented the notes at pitch and also in 8va notation so that your reading of the “on-the-body-notes� is clear and error-free. The other version is a more complex arrangement for 4 guitars - find it on my website belowBoth are set in the key that Louis Armstrong sang it in as part of the James Bond Film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.The other arrangement (for 4 guitars) is less straightforward - it has a more complex rhythm and an additional guitar part based on the string motifs and acoustic guitar parts in the original soundtrack. But this version holds its head up high - it is still faithful to the original and will appeal to a less-experienced adult or school ensemble.There are two Guitar One parts in this edition - one that sits above the other instruments in pitch, and in a quartet will carry well. The other is at the pitch Louis Armstrong sang. Because of the depth and timbre of the line, the low version will struggle to cut through the accompaniment unless the other parts are played in a subdued voice. In a large ensemble, one can put a few more players on this line, or indeed play both versions - they are completely compatible. Both lines feature the Flugelhorn solo in the original.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

School teachers will find this is an ideal piece for an end of semester concert, and adult quartets will find it makes a restful and easy-to-play interlude piece in a full-length concert. Being so well-known, this will be an audience pleaser! The key changes in the original are really sublime and enjoyable, and the lush string quartet sound makes the journey to new keys a scenic ride.Like many of my arrangements, this is meant to be accessible and fun, otherwise the music gets lost in a sea of technical worries. This uses familiar keys and positions to lock together quickly and reliably.There’s no fingering or dynamics on this score - this is your chance to make it yours! - the tune stays with Violin 1, but there are plenty of spots in the other parts which are this is my moment places - just do what makes the music sing.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!
