Ideal for a mixed ability trio or large ensemble, Guitar 3 plays a steady bass line against which the syncopated tune can work its magic. The piece closes with a final chord instead of a long fade out, but it's a big piece with a big sound and it runs for nearly four minutes at the recommended tempo.There are two bass parts in this edition - one in treble clef and one in bass clef...The arrangement works well with 4 guitars, but a larger ensemble will find it easy to get much more drive and power! In a large ensemble, the syncopated rhythms need to be tight and accurate if they are to provide a compelling rhythmic support to the tune.It’s worth mentioning that the name Fleetwood Mac derives from the group’s founder, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie (Mac), their bass player. Why tell you that? Because the Guitar 4 part is a close representation to the original bass line played by John McVie, and what a fantastic bass line it is! The two bass parts (treble clef and bass clef) are identical and between them, they suit guitar, contrabass guitar, electric bass or double bass. For a fuller sound in a large ensemble, one can place a guitar or two alongside a bass instrument.The standard across the parts varies from intermediate to advanced intermediate, so it's great for an ensemble of mixed abilities.I hope you enjoy this piece!

Since then I’ve performed it many times in concert, and it’s always particularly well received.The arpeggios and countermelodies are inspired by the repeating sequences in Pachelbel’s Canon, and they end up providing a rich and totally unexpected accompaniment to a verse and chorus of the famous Christmas Carol 'The First Nowell'.This piece is just perfect as a special item in a Christmas concert, because the title conceals the surprise in the piece - each phase brings in another guitar part, making the piece build slowly before the final guitar launches into the well-known carol. The parts are easy and suitable for an ensemble with limited experience or one with limited chances to rehearse. In a mixed ability ensemble, there’s something for everyone; in a school guitar group, the teacher can take the Guitar 6 part if no-one in the group is comfortable in fifth position - all the other parts are first position.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

Audiences equate effortless with easy, but it can be a bit of a beast to play well.Why this arrangement?I’ve lowered the key by a semitone which makes many of the chords sound more mellow.I’ve fixed the ungainly jumps in the bass line which came as a constraint of playing up the neck on solo guitar.I’ve improved the connectivity of the middle voices from chord to chord so the chord changes sound more effortless and natural.By virtue of the key change and careful use of enharmonic equivalents, the guitar part is now on familiar ground.A side effect is that everything is easier and the sustain seems more effortless.The Guitar is Capo 1, so that the clarinet and guitar are both in comfortable keys.I also have versions for two guitars - to find them easily, visit my website (below) and look for my list of guitar duets.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

I’ve made a key-change compared to the original, so that the music is comfortable on guitar, and it’s really rather busy so that the audience hears a really interesting sound. There is a bell-like introduction and conclusion to the piece, and you’ll recognise the sound of Big Ben, the bell that is an iconic London sound. There are three verses so that each line has something really interesting yet accessible to play. Guitar 3 is presented in treble and bass clefs to suit classical guitar, a contra guitar or a bass instrument. It’s fine to have both versions of Guitar 3 together in your ensemble, and the bass clef version has a few edits to make sure that everything works at a sensible pitch (especially the sound of Big Ben!)
