Small Ensemble Baritone Recorder,Bassoon - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.842539 Composed by Various (Collection). Arranged by B. Brennan. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 24 pages. Bl_music #5290017. Published by bl_music (A0.842539). Calisthenics for Great Bass Recorder 15 Solo-Etudes, Gallops, Polkas, Variations (notation: bass clef) 15 entertaining solo-etudes: Rondos, Polkas, Gallops, Variations….. all suitable for intermediate to advanced students as well as professionals; as exercises for the fingers, just for the fun of it or as (shorter) concert /contest pieces or encores. What are Calisthenics? You’ve all come across them in one form or another….mainly probably in caricatures of Victorian or Edwardian men in boldly striped sportswear lifting heavy weights or Victorian ladies elegantly waving their arms around(see photo) We found the idea of daily exercises in combination with utterly lovely tunes so intriguing that we decided to call our latest publication Calisthenics The music combines training of speed, thumb technique, interpretation. Short: another great fun and educational publication. The word calisthenics is derived from the Greek, kalos, beautiful; and sthenos, strength; the object of calisthenic exercises being to secure physical beauty by developing the limbs and muscles of the human frame, and making the joints flexible, thereby giving strength and power, and ensuring a graceful carriage, erect bearing, and freedom to the figure. In the words of the old Victorians: The highest refinement of that beauty is unattainable without splendour of activity and delicate strength. Exercise is now recognised to be as great a necessity in woman's education as in man's we are learning that many bodily defects and much of her weak health is attributable to the want of it; more especially in youth, when the frame is growing. Such exercises must, however, be carried out under a system; irregularly conducted, they do more harm than good. The constitution must be coaxed, not strained; the strength not unduly taxed, no over-fatigue ensuing; for exhaustion makes people look worn and old. The exertion must not be too violent, and the health and physical development of each pupil must be specially studied. Early morning or evening are the best times to select, but on no account immediately after a meal. The clothing should not be too warm, nor interfere in any way with the action of the limbs. A musical accompaniment will best preserve the necessary rhythm - the time, four or eight beats to a bar; failing this, the pupils should be taught to sing or count in concert, thereby keeping up their interest and zest. A castanet will, failing better means, help to mark the time with or without music. One of our aims is to revive these compositions and bring them to the attention of players and audiences.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,English Horn,Flute - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1375473 Composed by W.A. Mozart, J.S. Bach, W.F. Bach. Arranged by Daniel Kaplan. Baroque,Chamber,Classical. 221 pages. Daniel Kaplan #959960. Published by Daniel Kaplan (A0.1375473). As part of a campaign to enrich the woodwind quintet repertoire, Kaplan has arranged for woodwind quintet the six preludes and fugues for string trio by Mozart (based on fugues, and some preludes, by J.S. and W.F. Bach, with the addition of four original preludes by Mozart). Around 1782 (as recounted by Mozart in a letter to his father), Mozart used to attend Sunday musicales at the home of Baron van Swieten, who required Bach and Handel to be played by all. Presumably it was to comply with the Baron's wishes that Mozart created these arrangements plus original preludes. The arranger surmises that Mozart's immersion in Bachian counterpoint influenced his own works, which increasingly featured interesting, elaborate, musically and emotionally exciting fugues (such as those in the K.387 string quartet, the Jupiter Symphony, and the Requiem). Given Mozart's genius, it is not all surprising that the fugues he selected are all of great musical interest.Note that in arranging string music for woodwinds, one often finds the English Horn better suited to the tessitura than the oboe. The main challenge is to share the string parts among the wind instruments in such a way as to permit the players to breathe. This the arranger has done, but welcomes feedback from players.

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.836716 Composed by Brian Joyce. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 12 pages. Brian Joyce #4966351. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836716). For many years I have enjoyed playing the simpler manualiter chorale preludes of Zachau and J. G. Walter in the old Peters edition many organists will be familiar with. Then there are the delightful little preludes of Ernst Pepping which I first heard as a teenager in a recording by E. Power Biggs. I had something of a cross between these two influences in mind for this new set of English preludes. There are some finger-twisting moments here and there, but by and large these manuals-only pieces are meant to be shorter, more direct, and simpler (in concept, if not execution!) than my larger sets of preludes. The hymns dealt with here represent a useful mix of liturgical purposes and include Holy, Holy, Holy!, Come, Thou Almighty King, When Morning Gilds the Skies, Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates, All Things Bright and Beautiful, Beneath the Cross of Jesus, The Church’s One Foundation, and Christ the Lord is Risen Today. As always, sources and timings are included and the score prints in landscape format.

Small Ensemble Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799363 Composed by Drake Mabry. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 23 pages. Drake Mabry #2020827. Published by Drake Mabry (A0.799363). These five preludes are each based on a prelude from Chopin's 24 Preludes. I used this idea originally in 1977 for a piece for piano solo (also available on Sheet Music Plus). In 1999 I took the same Chopin preludes and did a new version for piano four-hands. Here's the guide to the preludes with their reference to the corresponding Chopin prelude. Prelude I – Chopin Prelude No. 4 Prelude II – Chopin Prelude No. 15 Prelude III – Chopin Prelude No. 24 Prelude IV – Chopin Prelude No. 7 Prelude V – Chopin Prelude No. 2. The duration is 12'00.

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.836718 Composed by Brian Joyce. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 15 pages. Brian Joyce #5749579. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836718). These eight Chorale Preludes were all written between March and May of 2020, during the worldwide Coronavirus Pandemic. Unlike the earlier companion volumes of shorter English and German preludes, which feature a variety of moods and themes, these American examples all seem to center around the closely related ideas of hope and quiet confidence. While this was not my intention back when I was choosing hymns to work with, I am pleased with the unity of the set. Taken as a whole, they are filled with tidings of comfort and joy. Stylistically, the preludes range from the baroque bounce of Praise Him, Jesus Our Blessed Redeemer, through the sturdy On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand (with its chords sounding as if they had been carved from granite blocks) and a surprisingly delicate I Stand Amazed. There is a fair amount of canonic leading and following in He Leadeth Me; Great is Thy Faithfulness is the expressive heart of the set; and we end by returning to 18th century ritornello models with Blessed Assurance. Through it all I think I have managed to avoid any sense of academic stuffiness - in fact there are several moments which may sound almost playful if not handled rightly. As with the Shorter English and German Preludes, most of these are between one and two minutes in length, and each fits on one or two pages, arranged so as to avoid page turns. As always, durations and sources are provided for your planning.

Piano - intermediate to difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19577 Twelve Preludes. Composed by Renato de Grandis. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Op. 4. Duration 33 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q19577. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19577). The 48 Preludi of the Venetian composer Renato de Grandis (1927-2008) were created, in large part, in the years 1998-2002. It was only subsequently that he arranged them in 4 cycles of 12 preludes each, while also drawing back on older compositions. Written in a traditional pianistic style, they are short sketches which are sometimes characterized by musical thoughts, sometimes by moods or natural phenomena. The fourth volume presented here is once again divided into two cycles of 6 preludes each, with the first cycle paying tribute to the landscapes and towns of Friuli north of Venice.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011289 Composed by Ho Jie Rong. Contemporary,Standards. Score. 13 pages. Ho Jie Rong #5794097. Published by Ho Jie Rong (A0.1011289). I am a Singaporean pianist and composer. I have studied the piano since 5 years old under Mr Joseph Toh and I graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a Diploma in Music in 2013, majoring in Music Composition under Malaysian composer Mr Chong Kee Yong and Singaporean composer Mrs Joyce Koh Bee Tuan. About Six Preludes I started composing this set of Six Preludes for piano in 2014 and revised in 2020. The first piece of this set is Walking. There are different types of walks one can imagine. Octaves in the left hand at the opening represents walking sluggishly, whilst the middle section’s running right hand and jokingly bass notes representing a quick stroll. The Adagio recititavo part represents tip-toeing and finally the quasi cadenza part represents a trip on the floor, ouch! The second piece, which is nicknamed Joke, is a parody of Chopin’s Scherzo no. 1 in B minor, Op. 20. Take this piece as a lame unfunny joke, as in the slow coda, which is a sigh after listening to this joke. Night Song, as the name says, means a piece to be played at night, most commonly associate with pieces like Nocturnes, Barcarolles etc. The fourth piece, Chopin, is a homage to Chopin. I chose his Prelude in G and B flat minor, Op. 28 no. 3 and no. 16 respectively as sources of inspirations. Vision is a poly-tonality piece. Sometimes what we think or see, may not always end up the way it is. Hence, I hope to create this double effect by using the keys at the same time. The final piece of this set is a Fughetta. A fughetta is a small fugue. This piece is actually a piano transcription of the 3rd movement of my Three Colours (for Clarinet in B flat, Violin and Cello) which is composed and premiered in 2012. I revised and edited some sections. This is a 12-tone work. The P0 and R0 makes up the subject of this piece, while R11 makes up the countersubject. Six Preludes is dedicated to my friend Ng Yu Fei.
