String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1210113 Composed by Phil Rawle. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. 39 pages. Phillip Rawle #807991. Published by Phillip Rawle (A0.1210113). The Fates – or Moirai – are a group of three weaving goddesses who assign individual destinies to mortals at birth. Their names are Clotho (the Spinner), Lachesis (the Alloter) and Atropos (the Inflexible). In the older myths, they were the daughters of Nyx, but later, they are more often portrayed as the offspring of Zeus and Themis. Here, they are depicted as three interludes in a short string quartet (Violin I & II, Viola, 'Cello).

String Quartet String Quartet - Digital Download SKU: A0.508952 Composed by Chiquinha Gonzaga. Arranged by Renato Esteves. Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 16 pages. Published by Renato Esteves (A0.508952). The famous Corta-jaca, the name with which the Gaucho tango became popular, is one of the most recorded and known songs by Chiquinha Gonzaga, alongside Ó abre alas, Lua Branca and Atraente. He was born on the stages of musical theaters, where he was danced in the final scene of the burlesque operetta of national customs Zizinha Maxixe, imitated from French by an anonymous author, performed at Teatro Éden Lavradio, in August 1895. Actor Machado Careca (José Machado Pinheiro e Costa ), anonymous author of the play, ended up putting verses in Corta-jaca's music, helping to popularize it, especially after its version was recorded on disk by the duo Os Geraldos. Throughout history, Corta-jaca attended other stages and repertoires: coffee-singers, beer-beauties, choro circles… But it was at the Palácio do Catete, in 1914, that it reached its glory. Performed on the guitar by First Lady Nair de Teffé, it caused political scandal and ended up calling the administration Hermes da Fonseca. The reaction can be measured by the impassioned speech that Senator Rui Barbosa delivered from the gallery. When inquiring what the cut-jaca that he had heard so much about is, he concludes: “The lowest, the most foul, the rudest of all wild dances, the twin sister of batuque, cateretê and samba. But at presidential receptions, the cut-jaca is performed with all the honors of Wagner's music, and we don't want the conscience of this country to revolt, our faces redden and the youth to laugh!†Never before in the history of Brazil has eminently popular music been performed in the seat of government, in front of the diplomatic corps and the country's elite. Corta-jaca became a classic of the great repertoire of Brazilian instrumental music, deserving recordings, among others, by Abel Ferreira, Altamiro Carrilho, Antonio Adolfo, Artur Moreira Lima, Clara Sverner, Conjunto Regional do Donga, Eudóxia de Barros, Guio de Morais, Itamar Assieré, Leandro Braga, Marcus Viana, Maria Teresa Madeira, Marcelo Verzoni, Paulo Moura, Radamés Gnatalli, Rosária Gatti, Talitha Peres, Turíbio Santos, numerous bands and some sung versions. It was also written by the conductor for singing and piano and for a small orchestra: oboe, viola, timpani, horns (fá), bassoon. Edinha Diniz, 2011.

Baritone voice solo and TTBB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.1.3428-E Composed by Alice Parker and Naomi Shemer. Arranged by Alice Parker. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st century. Octavo. 16 pages. Duration 6 minutes, 30 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3428-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3428-E). Hebrew. This arrangement was commissioned jointly by Brad Spencer, Scott Spencer, and the Washington Men's Camerata and first performed by the Camerata on June 13, 2015, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Naomi Shemer wrote this lovely poem honoring the fabled city, Jerusalem. Its history and mystery are evoked in each verse and in the passionate refrain. At the beginning, Jerusalem is seen asleep, alone, guarding the Temple Wall at its center. Then we picture a deserted, conquered city, empty and desolate. In the third verse, the writer reveals herself as the latest and least of all the notable scribes who have invoked the city, those writers of magnificent Psalms, odes and poems. At the end, people have returned to the city, enlivening its streets and neighborhoods, adding new chapters to its story. Naomi Shemer's music, with its mixture of nostalgia, melancholy, and desire, lifts her verses to memorable phrases: one does not want the song to end. In performing the work, follow the given dynamic markings and allow the song to slowly accumulate dramatic tension, saving the climax for the final refrain. -Alice ParkerDuration: 6:30.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1460647 Composed by J.S.Bach/Gounod. Arranged by Homco/Crinion. Baroque,Classical,Religious,Sacred,Wedding. 8 pages. Homco/Crinion #1039539. Published by Homco/Crinion (A0.1460647). The basic music for this setting of the Latin prayer Ave Maria is J. S. Bach's Prelude in C from his Well-Tempered Clavier of 1722. In 1853 French composer Charles Gounod superimposed the lyrical solo melody and the words. This Ave Maria - known as the Bach/Gounod version - is used at Weddings, Masses, Funerals and solemn occasions. In this Trio arrangement, Gounod's beautiful melody is covered entirely by the 2nd Violin!! The 1st Violin instead undulates on a descant, while the Cello & Viola cover the arpeggiated chords from Bach's original work. Give your 2nd Violinist a chance to shine in the limelight for a change! He/she deserves it!

String Quartet String Quartet,Viola - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004728 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Adrian Gagiu. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score and parts. 205 pages. Adrian Gagiu #6365523. Published by Adrian Gagiu (A0.1004728). This composition is a premiere, speculative, yet as faithful as possible embodiment of all of Beethoven’s sketches for his String Quintet in C major, Hess 41 (WoO 62), as they have been left by the composer. The usefulness and integrity of more or less hypothetical completions of sketches by great composers remains from case to case controversial. Due to the paucity of the sketches for the aim of attempting a true reconstruction, the present composition in no way falls within such category. It is obviously quite different from what Beethoven himself would have produced if he had lived more, also due to the fact that he usually transformed his preliminary sketches substantially during the compositional process. However, there are some of his frequent, subtle thematic relationships between the sketches for the Quintet movements, and probably some features in the sketches would have been kept in the completed composition. The four-movement design hypothesized by Martin Staehelin and others, as well as other retrospective or relaxed features in the sketches may be a result of a still early stage of the compositional process, or perhaps an indicator of a fourth, neoclassical creative period, together with Op. 135 and the new Finale for Op. 130.To generate a continuity draft of the Quintet, all of Beethoven’s sketches for it were used, with the addition of several ones from the same context within the respective sketchbook and which could be related to the identified Quintet sketches: some sketches are clearly labeled as being for the Quintet, while others are thematically related or written down close to them. With the possible exception of bars 75-94 and 136-155 in movement II (which are variations on the theme) and bars 140-145 in movement IV (which fill in the blank bars in the sketch with a progression based on it), virtually every bar of this composition includes the notes from the sketches in at least one of the instruments. Some of those notes were subject to transpositions and adaptations to fit the formal design, and to editorial choices for the unclear pitches and duration in the sketches. This publication includes the score, parts and continuity draft, the latter being marked with the sources in the sketches for each passage.Total duration: 33 minutes. The mp3 audio clip is the 3rd movement. Performing Rights Organization: SOCAN.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548729 Composed by Martin Luther. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Easter,Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 8 pages. Jmsgu3 #3412115. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548729). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther. The first verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms. Score: 4 pg. parts: 1 pg. Bowings included. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics which are essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed compositions, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. He wanted to disseminate the gospel among mankind and with this intention thought that the best way to do that was through music. Influence It is important to realize that other musicians, and their descendants, were encouraged by Luther’s songs and wrote their own hymns. Luther, to be sure, had a thorough musical education. For example, he knew secular and sacred songs from an early age. He, in particular, played the lute well and sang in the monastery when he was a monk. That is to say, music was an essential part of his life. He in fact first began writing songs in 1523, sometimes writing the melody as well as the lyrics. Luther was certainly able to evaluate the composers of his time. He thought especially highly of Josquin des and Ludwig Senfl. He was also acquainted, with this in mind, with other composers and their works. Legacy The Lutheran musical ethos soon covered all of Germany and later significantly fashioned Protestant musical culture. Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach are the most compelling evidence of this Protestant musical culture. Additionally, as a point often overlooked, the pedal organ, first refined in northern Germany, became universally prevalent. As a matter of fact, Dieterich Buxtehude established a regular evening organ concert series in Lübeck. Another key point is that this concert series, in turn, spread North German Musical ideas worldwide. Luther was especially convinced that music is a beautiful and exclusive offering of the divine.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1394384 Composed by Daniel Burwasser. 21st Century,Contemporary. 19 pages. Head and Stem #977866. Published by Head and Stem (A0.1394384). NOTES on Tears for a Dying PlanetTears for a Dying Planet paints a musical picture of a troubled world. It broadly expresses all of my pent-up fears, anger and frustrations which continue to lay heavily on my mind as our world descends into unsavory and uncharted territory. These problems run the gamut; endless military conflicts, threats of nuclear war, xenophobia, racism, anti-Semitism, science denial, steep political divisions, mass shootings, and not least by any means, climate change leading to extreme weather conditions across the globe.Tears for a Dying Planet is in a softly-played free form and contains several episodes which culminate into a forceful nine-note “death†chord representing grief and anger.  A single bar of recovery silence is offered honoring all who have suffered and continue to do so. --Daniel Burwasser NYC, February, 2024You can contact the composer directly at: danielburwasser9@gmail.comWebsite: https://www.danielburwasser.com/Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrCnkSRO-XOjUu7bMB8tzCg?view_as=subscriber
