Carl Maria von Weber (1786 –1826) was a German composer, conductor, pianist, guitarist and critic, one of the first significant composers of the Romantic school. This Romanze is very similar to Sicilienne in E-flat major by M.T. von Paradis. It is however spurious, as it is believed to have been composed by its purported discoverer, Samuel Dushkin, who probably used Weber's Romanze an inspiration for his composition.

Following on from Außer Atem (for one player with three different instruments), a sophisticated piece for virtuoso recorder players, Eggert now offers us a duet for the interesting and unusual combination of soprano recorder and percussion. This, too, is an extremely demanding and highly virtuosic piece but the effect, the artistic merit more than makes up for the hard work necessary.
