Small Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1515104 Composed by Connie Boss. Arranged by Connie Boss. Christian,Christmas. 106 pages. Connie Boss #1089606. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1515104). Everyone knows how special the star was for the birth of Jesus. The star guided many along the way to find the manger that Mary, Joseph and the newborn baby, Jesus were at. This cantata reflects the importance of the star during that time. Most of the songs have lyrics about the star.  The cantata starts off with Mary finding out from the angel that God chose her to bear his son - Ave Maria was redone for this advent moment. It keeps to the melody and Ave Maria words are still part of the lyrics. Some of the lyrics have the English translation in the song, while other lyrics are new for this Christmas song. The next song O Little Town of Bethlehem is where Mary and Joseph have to travel to pay their taxes and where     Jesus is born. This is where the star shines down for all to see.  This is the traditional song, but I have added extra lyrics at the end of each original verse. Next, the shepherds seeing the star decide to travel to Bethlehem. Pachelbel Canon is so iconic, but I have added lyrics from While Shepherds watched their flocks by night, Away in a Manger, What Child is This and The First Noel. The choir parts bring rich harmonies to the piece. The Angels said leave your sheep and leave your lambs. Rise up Shepherd and Follow. Now we are at the manger. I composed the song - A Little Baby. He was born to save us all. . Still, Still, Still “Tis the Night of Our Savior’s Birth has added lyrics to each verse that ties in with the original lyrics. The title of this cantata is They Saw A Star - this is from the song I composed with the same title. It not only brings in the shepherds, but also the Three Wisemen. To close out this cantata, I have used the lyrics from We Three Kings and the melody of Scarborough Fair. This arrangement has an SA duet with SSAA choir parts with ahhs that sound very mysterious. It also does include parts for strings if you are lucky enough to have violins and a cello. The strings parts are the same as the choir parts, so it is perfectly fine to do this with just a choir.  I hope you enjoy singing and listening to this cantata—Connie BossI didn't have a minimum copy, so you can make copies of this. This is why I have it priced at this price. For questions or requests, email Cdboss@cvalley.net.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1310203 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by Benzaiten Editions. 19th Century,Christian,Classical,Religious,Wedding. 10 pages. Benzaiten Editions #899341. Published by Benzaiten Editions (A0.1310203). Hey! Do you want to learn how to sing Schubert's Ave Maria for the SATB choir? It's your lucky day! 🎵Schubert Ave Maria • SATB (soprano • alto • tenor • bass) choir sheet music with piano accompaniment About the song Ave Maria by Franz Schubert, composed in 1825, is one of his most famous pieces. It's often associated with the Catholic prayer, but it's actually based on a work by the Scottish poet Walter Scott. Originally part of Ellens Gesang III, this gentle, melancholic melody with Latin lyrics invoking the Virgin Mary has been adapted for various instruments and choirs. Schubert didn't anticipate it becoming widely known as Ave Maria; the original title was Ellens Gesang III: Hymn to the Virgin. This beautiful composition is performed in various settings and continues to inspire listeners, showcasing Schubert's brilliance as a composer.

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810983 Composed by Cherry Classics Music. Arranged by John, W., and Ware. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 63 pages. Gordon Cherry #4601711. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810983). This fine work has sat dormant for many years and has now come to light thanks to the efforts of Charlie Vernon, Bass Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony, who performed this virtuoso work as a young performer. The concerto is in the standard three movement form: Fast, slow, fast. This publication is a reduction from the original orchestral version (to be released at some point in the future). Here is a description of the Concerto by the composer, John W. Ware. I started on the trombone concerto in my junior year studying composition at Indiana University.  While working on it, I learned of an opportunity to make it sort of a thesis piece (though students didn't write a thesis in composition while an undergrad).  The original version was for trombone with string orchestra, and it was performed by the IU String Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Arthur Corra, with Robert Priez, trombone, as part of my senior composition recital.  I thought the performance was quite good (Priez played extraordinarily well), and the piece received a newspaper review in the Indiana Daily Student, in which the reviewer wrote that the work was almost too exciting.  I thought at the time that he had given me and my music a fine compliment.  I made a piano version of the accompaniment, shortening and tightening the first movement, for performances in 1966; I made a second revision in 1967 for a performance by E. J. Eaton, trombonist at the University of Tennessee at Martin, arriving at the form in which the work exists now. The first movement is in fairly normal sonata-allegro form, in the key of A minor.  It alternates between assertive and more thoughtful moods.   There is no introduction; the soloist enters immediately and dominates much of the movement. The main theme is--by some manipulation--a source for most of the other themes, and all of the themes are used in close proximity to each other, including contrapuntal combinations, especially near the end.  Originally the movement included a lengthy fugato, now much shortened and including a stretto that builds and subsides before a cadenza leading to a coda based on both the principal and secondary themes.  Key relations in this movement, as in the other two, are quite free and often chromatic, with frequent third-relations; but returns to the tonic at the end are emphatic.  The writing is challenging for both soloist and accompanist; the piece is substantial, requiring technique and stamina. The second movement is in F minor and is also built on both contrast and close relationships between the main and secondary themes.  The main theme is heard in the piano part before the soloist enters.  The mood is more lyric than in the first movement, but with dramatic episodes also.  In this movement are some definite derivations from themes in the first movement.  The ending is a sort of lengthened shadow of the opening. The finale returns to A minor, with themes slightly related to polonaise rhythms, but with strong echoes of first-movement themes.  Here, too, dramatic and lyric episodes alternate, with dotted rhythms frequently propelling the music forward.  The introduction is a brief and simple preparation for the solo entry.  Later in the movement, a very brief, slightly slower section is soon overtaken by the original tempo.  Toward the end, there is a second cadenza, again leading to a swift and energetic coda. The work is about 20 minutes in length and is appropriate for advanced performers.

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548671 Composed by Adam. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christian,Christmas. Score and part. 10 pages. Jmsgu3 #3410427. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548671). Duration: 4:56. Score; 5 pg., 44 ms. Solo part: 2 pg. Piano part: 3 pg.Cantique de Noël The French composer Adolphe Adam was already famous as a composer of many successful ballets and operas. Then, in the 1840’s he wrote his most famous work - O Holy Night. The original song title was Minuit Chretiens or Cantique de Noël.  Placide Cappeau provided the original song lyrics. The song was first performed in Roquemaure by the opera singer Emily Laurey at midnight mass in 1847. It became very popular among the French, much the way that Silent Night was famous elsewhere. In the 1850’s John S. Dwight, a Unitarian minister and music teacher translated the song into English.   Adolphe Adam In his younger years, Adam studied organ and composition at the Paris Conservatoire. He also played the timpani in the Conservatoire orchestra. Adam used his savings and borrowed money to open a new opera house - the fourth opera house in Paris in 1847. Unfortunately, the Revolution of 1848 forced him to close. He taught composition at the Paris Conservatoire from 1849 until his death in 1856. Placide Cappeau The poet Cappeau was an advocate of the French Enlightenment philosopher Voltaire.  Voltaire was renowned for criticizing the Catholic church, religious intolerance, and dogma in general. Consequently, Cappeau made the Redeemer figure in his song a kind of reformer of injustices, in particular, the problem of original sin. To begin with, people recognized Cappeau’s theology as eccentric, probably even doubtful. Theology In the earlier form of Minuit, the Christ figure descends to intervene with His Father’s plan to punish mankind.  Traditional doctrine pronounces that Christ came from love, not to intervene. This version also declares that Christ appeared to expunge the original sin of Adam. Cappeau removed this part from his poem years later, because he just didn’t believe it.  He preferred to portray Christ as the reformer of disparity and unfairness. Before long, the writer/politician Alphonse de Lamartine referred to the Minuit as the the Marseillaise of religion. Most French churchmen agreed with this idea but certainly did not consider it a tribute.  Register for free lifetime updates and revisions at www.jamesguthrie.com

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845973 By Miley Cyrus. By Henry Walter, Lukasz Gottwald, Maureen McDonald, Sacha Skarbek, and Stephan Richard Moccio. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Contemporary,Pop. Score and parts. 34 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #5310843. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845973). Why settle for a bland transcription of Hannah Montana when you can have an action-packed, thrill-filled arrangement that's ALMOST as crazy as Miley Cyrus!? (almost)You've heard the song. You've seen the video. Whether or not you're a Miley super fan, you get the hype and that's why you're here. So take that hype to the next level with a chart that will make your audience go what on earth just happened? the same way Miley does on at least a bi-annual basis. By the way, I'll tell you what just happened: your quartet just came in like a wrecking ball, and smashed every archaic stereotype about classical string players to PIECES!!Gone are the days of strings not being able to feel the groove. Silenced are the cynics who once called us boring and one-dimensional. A new era is upon us, where violins, violas, & cellos can get up, get out, and rock the faces off of the proletariat right alongside our guitar slinging, drumstick twirling brethren! And this chart is just what you need to usher in this oh so bright future for all who rosin the bow:Right from the start, this arrangement takes a unique spin on Miley's pop smash, with a lopsided groove that will have your listeners searching frantically for a downbeat. Their urges will finally be satisfied when the melody takes us back to that oh-so-familiar feeling of 4/4 security... but don't get too comfortable, because when that chorus drops you'd better hold on to your hats. That's right, the train is leaving the station for double-time town! Along this musical journey, you may also encounter glimpses of reggae, jazz, & bluegrass, culminating in a race to the finish that will wre-e-eck any musician who didn't come ready to hang. Oh, and just for funsies I threw in that classic showbiz' moment where the cellist steals the melody, so feel free to ham that up as much as possible, cello players! This arrangement also makes use of modern extended string techniques in order to create rhythmic grooves without the need for additional instruments, including chopping and strum bowing. If you are unfamiliar with these concepts, various resources exist all over the internet to aid you in your quest towards having better time. I recommend this series, for example: https://youtu.be/kfX3kxjC93sPerformance time - 4:20... and if that doesn't make Miley Cyrus proud I don't know what will.Questions? Feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/ or on the 'Insta @theviolinvagabond

Alto Saxophone Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1049003 Composed by An-lun Huang. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Individual part. 16 pages. DoReMi Edition #653396. Published by DoReMi Edition (A0.1049003). Chinese Rhapsody No.3 was composed e in Toronto, Canada , 1988. Huang dedicated the piece to the Canadian Saxophonist Paul Brodie who premiered it in Parry sound of Ontario in the same year. Written in Saibei Folk Style, the music is divided into 5 movements without stop. As usual, Huang didn‘t use any folk song . But the typical taste of Huang’s “Zhang Jia Kou[張家å£] accent†is pretty easy to be identified. With the concert virtuosity, the 1st movement is composed as an emotional Cadenza which expresses the profound affections to the land of Saibei. Using the same Alto Sax., the lyric 2nd movement is followed by a folk dance, the 3rd movement. Chang to a Soprano Saxophone, the 4th movement is sound like a dreamy nocturne which is interrupted by the percussions of the fiery 5th movement. The whole Rhapsody ends on a climax of the Chinese Northern west “wind and percussion “styleâ€. Brodie found more than 300 trills in this piece. Perhaps this is the key to perform the music in real Chinese style. Huang has composed 5 versions of these pieces for different ensembles: saxophone solo with piano, or strings, or winds/brasses, or Chinese traditional orchestra, or symphony orchestra. The attached mp3 was performed by the German saxophonist Jurgen Demmler with pianist Peter Grabinger in 1996. Duration: 20’.

I've changed the image I've used too as I didn't realise the original one had 'super heroes' in it! It incorporates a tune called 'The Somerset Wassail' which it opens with, but it is played around with later in the piece. I'm very pleased with - it's a major piece of work, and think it will make a great concert piece for brass bands of intermediate standard.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.578875 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 7 pages. David Warin Solomons #1791985. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.578875). This letter to my grandmother is a recollection of her final years in the 1970s. She suffered from Parkinsons and became very frustrated with the fact that her body simply didn't follow the commands of her brain. But she was always a very polite, gentle and yet determined person - others in this situation might have used swear words, but, when she found herself immobilised, my gran would simply shout Bunny Rabbits!. This would make us laugh and she would laugh along with us. The frustration is represented in the music by the Delians melodic fragment DEFGEDE (in the D Dorian mode) interrupted by the timpani, and eventually other instruments, repeating the frustrated bunny rabbits theme. Finally - following her Christian beliefs, her soul goes up to an afterlife in which she is released from the frustration and the bunny rabbits, who have a final grumble on brass and timpani and give way to an ethereal minor chord with a major sixth, as suggested by the Dorian mode. The sound sample here is an electronic preview. The piece was premiered on 30 January 2016 by the Octava Chamber Orchestra along with various other short movements composed by other members of the Delian Society as part of Delian Suite No 8.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1449509 Composed by Neopolitan Folk Tune. Arranged by Paul Taylor. Folk,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score. 2 pages. Paul Taylor #1029265. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.1449509). The ever-popular Carnival of Venice, has been in our collective memory since at least the 18th century.  This Neopolitan melody was introduced to the world  with Paganinni's set of variations for violin solo and piano accompaniment. One humorous aspect of Paganini's score is that he didn't bother to write out the piano accompaniment version except for the presentation of the theme. After the  theme was presented, he writes, repeat this 20 times.    The  short arrangement here is for piano solo and contains a theme and one variation. The piece allows the intermediate pianist to learn how to  navigate an extended arpeggio figure in the left hand while maintaining a legato and lyrical melodic projection  as well as  pedalling with the chord changes. In the variation, the bass line remains the same, but the melody is embedded  within a florid figuration in the treble part. Pedalling that appears in this piano arrangement are offered only as suggestions, as many pianist will have their own ideas about pedalling.
