Heritage Music Press #e45/1046H. Published by Heritage Music Press (LX.45-1046H). UPC: 000308040388.Grades 3–6 • This sensational musical explores the history of astronomy from the time of the ancients to Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon and beyond, while telling the story of one child's dream to travel through space. Action begins at the school astronomy club's overnight camping trip, which proves quite interesting upon the arrival of a very unexpected visitor. Utilizing a series of clever flashbacks in the form of short vignettes, the story unfolds. The pervading message is that anything is possible if we follow our dreams. Six dynamic songs and a reprise are included in this versatile show that is flexible in cast size, appealing to several grade levels, and adaptable to many performance situations -- and it integrates music and drama with the science and/or history curriculums. Performance time is approximately 40 minutes.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.872280 By Keith Terrett. By George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Historic,Wedding. 18 pages. Keith Terrett #478726. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.872280). A transcription of Handel's The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba for 2 D Trumpets & Orchestra. The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, sinfonia for two oboes and strings by George Frideric Handel that premiered in London on March 17, 1749, as the first scene of Act III in the oratorio Solomon. One of the last of Handel’s many oratorios, Solomon is rarely performed in its entirety, but Handel’s bright and lively “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba†interlude is a widely appreciated processional set piece. It often was (and it continues to be) played during wedding ceremonies. A noted public performance of the piece occurred during the opening ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Small Ensemble High Voice,Medium Voice,Piano Accompaniment,Trumpet - Digital Download SKU: A0.904699 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Matthew Ryan Ross. Baroque,Opera. Score and parts. 5 pages. Matthew Ryan Ross #3364749. Published by Matthew Ryan Ross (A0.904699). Rinaldo (HWV 7) is an opera by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1711, and was the first Italian language opera written specifically for the London stage. The libretto was prepared by Giacomo Rossi from a scenario provided by Aaron Hill, and the work was first performed at the Queen's Theatre in London's Haymarket on 24 February 1711. The story of love, war and redemption, set at the time of the First Crusade, is loosely based on Torquato Tasso's epic poem Gerusalemme liberata (Jerusalem Delivered), and its staging involved many original and vivid effects. It was a great success with the public, despite negative reactions from literary critics hostile to the contemporary trend towards Italian entertainment in English theatres. This aria, from Act III of the original 1711 production, is arranged for trumpet, piano, and voice, this arrangement embodies the full orchestral feel of Handel's famous aria as well as creating the most efficient performance mark up for the voice. This arrangement is the only one in existence of its kind and is sure to make an amazing addition to your vocal performance repertoire whether you are an aspiring student or a seasoned opera vocalist.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023992 Composed by Kyle Wernke. Contemporary,Folk,Holiday,Patriotic. Score and parts. 109 pages. Kyle Wernke Publishing #2121501. Published by Kyle Wernke Publishing (A0.1023992). Commissioned by the Fort Smith Symphony - John Jeter, Conductor John Trumbull (June 6, 1756 - November 10, 1843) is perhaps the most overlooked of the Founding Fathers of The United States. Born and raised in Connecticut, John Trumbull was the son of Jonathan Trumbull (October 12, 1710 - August 17, 1785), Governor of Connecticut from 1769 to 1784, the only Royal Governor to side with the Americans during the Revolutionary War. Trumbull fought in the revolution, witnessing Bunker Hill and using his artistic abilities to sketch the British Works at Boston. Later, he was appointed second personal aide to General Washington, and in June 1776 he served as deputy adjutant-general to General Horatio Gates. Trumbull resigned from the army in 1777 over a dispute about the dating of his commission. In 1780 Trumbull traveled to London to study under Benjamin West: It was West who urged Trumbull to paint small pictures of the War of Independence, the works which would make him famous (he painted around 250 during his lifetime). In September of 1780, Continental troops captured British agent Major John Andre, after news of this reached Great Britain, Trumbull was arrested in retaliation. He was imprisoned for seven months. After the War, Trumbull again traveled to London, and then to Paris. It was here that Trumbull began work on two of the works depicted in this piece. He made sketches for the Surrender of Lord Cornwallis and, with the help of Thomas Jefferson, the US minister to France, he began working on The Declaration of Independence. In addition to paintings depicting the revolution, Trumbull painted numerous portraits, including those of George Washington, George Clinton (Governor of New York), Alexander Hamilton (the source of the $10 bill), and John Adams. I was tasked with composing a piece which would be educational for the students in attendance. I ended up writing a piece that would have educational material both in its musical construction and its subject matter. Trumbull's use of color, especially darker hues, and the structure of his paintings informed the construction of the piece. Three specific paintings influenced the work: The Capture of the Hessisans at the Battle of Trenton, The Declaration of Independence, and The Surrender of Lord Cornwallis. A recurring theme in the work of Trumbull is how the central act is always depicted at the center, with opposing groups on either side. The piece derives its form from this trait, casting the two large battle sections on the outsides, with the central act of the Revolutionary War in the center (The Declaration of Independence). The only percussion in the piece are drums, lending a certain militaristic feeling to the work, and evoking images of marching armies. Extended techniques are used repeatedly, casting a shade of uncertainty around the military campaigns (Washington's famous crossing of the Delaware and the seige at Yorktown), while The Declaration of Independence is scored in strict time and with more traditional harmonies, solidifying the event as the central moment of American history.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742492 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 57 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #5041947. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742492). Around the year 1726, John Walsh, a London music publisher, created a wonderful forgery in order to run around the copyright laws of the day: he pretended to pirate an edition supposedly published by the House of Roger in Amsterdam. This forgery included 12 Sonatas for solo instrument and continuo which had been composed by one George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Around 1793 the House of Arnold published the same set, omitting two of the original 12 and replacing them with two others by Handel. So at this point there were a total of 14 solo sonatas available to the public. In the year 1879 Friedrich Chrysander issued these 14 works and several others in volume 27 of the German Handel Society’s Gesamtausgabe of Handel’s works. Since then they have been edited from this scholarly work many times, and afflicted by all sorts of permutations which reflect the various styles of performance in vogue over the years. One finds editions stripped of ornamentation but loaded with articulation and dynamic markings at one end of the spectrum, and editions with modest stenographic and florid ornamentation at the other. The Sonata in C Minor (London: 1712) is a pure example of the middle phase of the solo sonata da chiesa [church sonata]. The first three movements are indicative of the style found in sonatas derived from the disruptive canzona of the early 17th century. An initial slow movement with walking bass is followed by an imitative movement (in this case, a fugue with a chromatic subject), which in turn leads to an Adagio. This latter movement in the relative major is a ricercare containing several imitative entrances. The finale is a spirited binary-form Bourrée angloise, an item taken over from the French ordre or dance suite. The extraordinarily short length of this movement seems to indicate that a trio is missing here; therefore, I have added the bourrée from the Royal Fireworks Music of 1749 to act as a trio, but players are certainly free to omit it. Adding a series of variations based on the chord changes of the Bourrée angloise would be an alternative way to lend weight to this final movement.Taken from https://www.idrs.org/scores/Lehrer/DRArch/69HandelSonataCm.html
