Six fun pieces arranged for the first time for recorder quartet (SATB). All save one of these pieces comes from the London Sketchbook (K.15), composed when Mozart was 8. They are written quickly in pencil in two parts, and in many cases invite arrangement into wind pieces. Here we have: 1. Allegro, KV33b); 2. Andante, K15mm; 3. Andantino, K15b; 4. Contredanse K15h and KV Anh 109b, no 6; 5. Allegro, K15a; Contredanse, K15gg . The originals are untitled. I have used the titles in The London Sketchbook, transcribed RSB (IMSLP). All tempo markings and dynamics are editorial.

Six delightfully melodic songs of the 1790s by this prolific English composer, arranged from the original melody and bass for SATB recorders. Each instrument is kept busy, with the responsibility for Hook's favourite Alberti bass falling firmly on the fingers and patience of the tenor and bass recorders. There are a few virtuoso passages for the soprano in imitation of bird song, and in the last song particularly I have totally changed the original harmonies. The six songs are: 1. A new arrangement for alto or sopranino recorder with piano accompaniment. The original, entitled Variations sur l'Air Gestern Abend war Vetter Michel da (c. 1815), is for csakan in G and guitar (sounding in C). This arrangement retains the original key and fingering (csakan fingering is virtually identical to that of the recorder), and offers an accompaniment that retains the lightness and transparency of the original guitar chording.

An exciting new anthem for solo soprano, SATB choir and keyboard on the familiar text from Numbers 6:24-6. The first and last sections of the anthem repeat each other, and are in call and response format between soloist and chorus. The middle section is a rather lovely tune, which changes the opening section's D minor to an exuberant D major. The keyboard maintains an arpeggiated ostinato accompaniment throughout. The piece would suit any service in which a contemporary rhythmical setting is welcome.
