First recorded by Judy Collins, it appeared on the US singles chart during the fall of 1968. The next year it was included on Mitchell's album Clouds, and became one of her best-known songs. It has since been recorded by dozens of artists, including Dion in 1968, Clannad with Paul Young in 1991, and Mitchell herself who re-recorded the song with an orchestral arrangement on her 2000 album Both Sides Now.Mitchell has said that Both Sides, Now was inspired by a passage in Henderson the Rain King, a 1959 novel by Saul Bellow.I was reading ... Henderson the Rain King on a plane and early in the book Henderson ... is also up in a plane. He's on his way to Africa and he looks down and sees these clouds. I put down the book, looked out the window and saw clouds too, and I immediately started writing the song. I had no idea that the song would become as popular as it did.Pat Martino recorded a short version of the tune on his 1975 album Consciousness. I was talking to him about the tune and said I seemed to have remebered a longer version. He said, yeah, there might be one somewhere. I think he was just messing with me and wanted me to look for it. I found it as one of the solo performances from his VHS, Creative Force. As what definately feels like a gift to me, Pat included all the bits and pieces of this extended composition in his True Fire course. I managed to put the pieces together and here is Both Sides Now/Inside synced to the recording.

Quips, Quotes, and Quibbles is a set of eighteen very brief compositions for medium voice and piano, based on humorous quotes about music or musicians, or by musicians themselves. Each selection utilizes compositional styles to represent the composer quoted or referenced. They can be performed in their entirety as a set (16 minutes), or can be extracted and performed in smaller sets. They invariably induce laughter in the audience when performed live. Though copyright permission was not necessary for use of the texts, the composer secured permission to use them from two publishers, who simply requested that there publications be referenced in the score. These are also excellent pieces for composers and music theory students to analyze in order to study compositional techniques used. Dr. Weber is a member of ASCAP and has his own YouTube channel, at which you can see some of his original compositions performed, or him performing his works in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. .

When the melody is restated it is doubled in Violin 1 and Violin 2 joins the accompaniment. The equally sonorous second theme is played by Violin 2. Each instrument has a substantial part to play in this excellent adaption of the Beethoven sonata. The arrangement remains in the original key of Ab Major.This arrangement is dedicated to Dr. Michael Rickman, Professor Emeritus at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. Dr. Rickman and Joseph Corporon have been personal friends and performing colleagues with The Daytona Solisti Chamber Players since 2005. Geologicalchange? Then came Dr. Walter Alvarez! Dr. Alvarez discovered a thin layer of themineral iridium found in sedimentary rocks that were roughly 65 million years old.Knowing that iridium only comes from a meteor, he set out to find the source, acrater in the Yucatán peninsula of Mexico called Chicxulub. In 1991, Dr. Alvarezwrote a book called T.Rex and the Crater of Doom, describing the scientificjourney to most widely accepted theory about the demise of the dinosaurs.The Crater of Doom is inspired by this text. Although we think of the demise of thedinosaurs as a singular event (In a geological sense, this is sort of true.), it reallyoccurred over thousands, and perhaps, millions of years. I wanted this piece todepict these events. In four movements, played without a break, one can hear leadup to the initial impact of the meteor strike, its aftermath, a lonely hunt by one ofthe last survivors, and the sunset of the dinosaur era.

Cissy Strut is a 1969 funk instrumental by The Meters. Released as a single from their eponymous debut album, it reached No. 4 on the R&B chart and No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. The tune was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011, which honors recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old. The A.V. Club called the song a classic deeply rooted in New Orleans music tradition.Cissy Strut was featured in the films Jackie Brown, Red, King Richard and Another Round as well as in the BBC television series The Pursuit of Love.In 2021, Rolling Stone ranked Cissy Strut at number 158 on their 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list, one of the handful of instrumentals to make the list.Many transcribers of this tune obscure the 1/4 notes by improperly beaming the 1/16 notes. This arrangement fixes that issue. After solos the tune returns to the B section and then the A section This is called the Boden form used by Bartok and is frequently used when playing jazz ballads.This arrangement includes optional horn parts (trumpet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trombone, and baritone saxophone). These parts include chords where the players can farm out the various notes to different horns.
