Januar 1791) in sein Verzeichnuss aller meiner Werke, etwas spater finden wir unter dem 3. Marz 1791 Ein OrgelStucke fur eine Uhr. Gemeint sind die beiden ublicherweise als Fantasie bezeichneten Werke in f-Moll, KV 594 und KV 608, die Mozart mit grosser Wahrscheinlichkeit fur eine mit einem Uhrwerk verbundene mechanische Orgel - also einen Orgel-Automaten - im Mausoleum Laudons der Mullerschen Kunstgalerie geschrieben hat. Wer unter diesen so harmlos wirkenden Titeln eine ebenso harmlose, hubsche und unterhaltende Musik erwartet, wird schon durch die Tonart der beiden in Mozarts letztem Lebensjahr entstandenen Musiken uberrascht sein - vielmehr noch durch ihre konzentrierte Form und Ausdruckstiefe. Stucke fur ein mechanisches Orgelwerk zu schreiben war durchaus eine Aufgabe, der sich viele der grossen Meister des 18. Jahrhunderts unterzogen. Wir haben kostliche Miniaturen fur eine Flotenuhr von Handel, Haydn, Beethoven u.a., die heute in der Regel auf einer Orgel wiedergegeben werden. Umso verwunderlicher ist es, dass Mozart mit diesen beiden Kompositionen eine ganz andere Musik geschaffen hat: gross dimensioniert schon in der Ausdehnung, die der Lange eines Sinfoniesatzes entspricht, erst recht aber in ihrer inhaltlichen Ausarbeitung! Vom dusteren Adagio am Beginn der Fantasie KV 594 uber das triumphierend auffahrende Allegro bis zum ersterbenden Ende wird der Horer gleichermassen wie in der entgegengesetzt aufgebauten Fantasie KV 608 von dem mit dramatisch-heroischem Impetus anpackenden Themenkopf uber das durch 2 Fugen von allerhochster Meisterschaft umrahmten innig beruhrenden Andante bis zum letzten Ton in Atem gehalten. War es die vermutete Bestimmung der Kompositionen als Trauermusik oder Mozarts Beschaftigung mit Handel und Bach, die so ungewohnlich ergreifende Musik entstehen liess? Unuberhorbar ist jedenfalls ihre Nahe zu seinen letzten grossen Kirchenmusiken, der Messe c-Moll und dem Requiem! Wolfgang Helbich in seinem Vorwort zu den beiden Fantasien fur eine Uhr.

I have altered and enriched some of the simplistic classical chord progressions. There are now numerous markings throughout, particularly in articulation. Each part requires accurate rhythms, and each part has some virtuosic extended patterned runs. The range for each instrument is wide-2 octaves plus a third. This piece is a fun way to show your technical skills in concert or audition/competition. Or useful anyplace that you want joyful melodrama (Donizetti's own description). Also works well for pre-wedding music if you prefer the humorous side of true love instead of the sappy stuff.

Using words from the early liturgical dramas, this setting is of the conversation between the angels and the women at the tomb on the day of Christ's resurrection.  With a slight liberty, I have set the angels' voices for the ladies to sing (SSAA) but the human response is in the men's voices (TBarB).  Another liberty is to suggest that the Angels' response He is not here. He is risen as foretold must also be the message of Christians everywhere and in all times.  Hence, we end on a glorious three-octave, seven-part ascending scale representing the resurrection in music.  One for the more advanced choirs, but not difficult as such.  An obvious choice for Easter or for concert use.

The piece won the International Composition Competition Anima Mundi organized by the Opera Primaziale di Pisa in 2009.Stefano Maria TorchioItalian Violinist, Composer and Conductor, spent his education between Italy and the University of Music and Performing Art in Vienna, where he studied Orchestral Conducting with U. The reputation of the Bohemian composer Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) has always been somewhat overshadowed by that of Bedrich Smetana and Antonín Dvorák. This is a pity, for Fibich, though he died young, made an equally important contribution to the emerging Czech national styl with his wide range of compositions. After starting piano lessons with his mother as his first teacher, the boy went on to music school in Prague and then to the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he learned his craft as a composer. He spent a few months teaching piano in Paris and then continued his studies with Vinzenz Lachner in Mannheim. Prague was eventually to become the centre for Fibich's musical activities: as his dream of a post at the Conservatoire remained unfulfilled, his main employment was giving private music lessons and as a composer Zdenek Fibich wrote works for many musical genres: vocal and chamber music, piano pieces and orchestral works, operas, stage music and melodramas, literary recitals with orchestral accompaniment to which he gave a new lease of life. There are biographical traces to be found in the 376 piano pieces of the collection 'Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences' Op. 41, written in 1892-98: this tells of his love for his pupil Anezka Schulzová in the form of a 'piano diary'. Its four volumes were frequently a source of material for other works, such as the symphonic poem 'In the Evening' Op. 39 (also known as 'A Summer's Evening' and 'At Twilight'), written in 1893. For his second subject in this 'Idyll' Fibich used the minature no. 139, entitled 'Lento', from his collection of piano pieces. The violinst Jan Kubelík played the melody from 1908 onwards with the title 'Poème', and the work is still known today under this title: its easy charm has made it a favourite tune in the classical repertoire. This arrangement is based on the orchestral version from which other material was adapted for the Prelude.
