Particular care is required by the intonation and the creation and substain of the right tone (which are perhaps the biggest challenge by the piece) but the entire music created by the phonemata and the training about it could be very funny and very precious and helpful for an interesting growth of a very fine Choir. Die Sonate für Bassklarinette oder Violoncello und Klavier entstand im Frühjahr 1995 auf Anregung des holländischen Bassklarinettisten Henri Bok, dem das Werk auch gewidmet ist. Die drei Sätze haben stark erzählerischen, sprechenden Charakter. Der erste Satz wird aus zwei lyrischen Gedanken entwickelt, die sich in der Mitte zu einem dramatischen Höhepunkt steigern, um am Ende mit trauermarschähnlicher Geste zu versinken. Der Variationssatz vertritt die Funktion des Scherzos. In ihm werden in verschiedenen, vornehmlich rhythmisch geprägten Gestalten die virtuosen Möglichkeiten der beiden Partner genutzt. A broad musical climax features numerous overlapping independent melodies previously featured before a dramtic final keychange and a slow, soft ending.

I made the music simple enough for a music teacher with minimal piano skills and I think it's simple enough for a young elementary/intermediate piano student to learn how to express a lyric through the piano. When you teach this piece; teach the students to express the emotions expressed in the lyrics. This is a great little piece to teach students to be emotionally expressive in their playing.

The bowings and articulations are editorial. The arrangement uses Fauré’s four vocal lines (SATB) and the harmonium part without its running triplets. Although the triplets have been left out, the harmonies and the cantabile character remain intact and convincing. None of the string parts go beyond 1st position, but players need to be familiar with extensions and unusual accidentals. Bow control and vibrato will contribute to a mature sound and help to dramatize the forte passages. This piece is perfect for concerts, festivals, and community events that require deeply moving music.  Share Fauré’s glorious French romantic harmonies with your students and their audiences.
