Clarinet Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018946 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078675. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018946). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  â€ƒThe second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

2 cellos - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6257 Arranged by David Geringas. Composed by Vytautas Laurusas. Arranged by David Geringas. This edition: performance score. Cello Library. Downloadable, Performance score. Duration 12 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6257. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6257). David Geringas.

Instrumental Duet Bassoon,Instrumental Duet,Viola - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845178 Composed by G Ludovic. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Concert,Opera,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 12 pages. Phil Beaman #6328767. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845178). The Elixir of Love is a comic opera by Donizetti about an elixir to cause two people to fall in love. It turns out that the elixir was fake (just red wine), but it caused the two persons to realize that their love had always been real. My arrangement maintains this joyful, almost comedic, side of love's feelings. Following Ludovic's earlier piano arrangement I treat just three of the opera's many themes. I have altered and enriched some of the simplistic classical chord progressions. There are now numerous markings throughout, particularly in articulation. Each part requires accurate rhythms, and each part has some virtuosic extended patterned runs. The range for each instrument is wide-2 octaves plus a third. This piece is a fun way to show your technical skills in concert or audition/competition. Or useful anyplace that you want joyful melodrama (Donizetti's own description). Also works well for pre-wedding music if you prefer the humorous side of true love instead of the sappy stuff.

Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1497196 Composed by Gioachino Rossini. Arranged by Albert Schwarzmann. 19th Century,Romantic Period. 131 pages. Edition Schwalbe #1073617. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1497196). Introduzione e tema con variazioni was composed in 1819 and is one of the great solo pieces for clarinet from the 19th century. The  introduction states an aria from Rossini's opera Mosè in Egitto, and the theme originates from the melodrama La donna del Lago. The  arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by  Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2017 at the  Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and was broadcasted live by Austrian television. The solo part for clarinet  was played by Wenzel Fuchs, solo clarinet of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and also concertmaster of Salzburg Wind Philharmonic.  A live recording of this concert is available at  https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/viva-litalia/ or  https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/viva-l-italia/hnum/10428716?iampartner=303&subid=umr12&ref=partner.jpc.de .

Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q41647). The Belgian composer Nicholas Lens presents extremely varied etudes, exercises and simple phrases with wonderfully telling titles from poetry and everyday world for children and adults. For the most part the studies are tonal and simple and have no constructed line. They are not based on any educational concept but leave the musical dramatization to the pupils and teachers: 'Notes and rhythms are just notes and rhythms, they do not have that many rules, they do not have any pretension, they are just tools for you to use to express what you want to share'.

Trumpet (in Bb) and piano - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q15274 From the Idyll At Twilight. Composed by Zdenek Fibich. Arranged by Wolfgang Birtel. This edition: Sheet music. Edition Schott - Single Edition. Downloadable. Op. 39. Schott Music - Digital #Q15274. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q15274). The reputation of the Bohemian composer Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) has always been somewhat overshadowed by that of Bedrich Smetana and Antonín Dvorák. This is a pity, for Fibich, though he died young, made an equally important contribution to the emerging Czech national styl with his wide range of compositions. After starting piano lessons with his mother as his first teacher, the boy went on to music school in Prague and then to the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he learned his craft as a composer. He spent a few months teaching piano in Paris and then continued his studies with Vinzenz Lachner in Mannheim. Prague was eventually to become the centre for Fibich's musical activities: as his dream of a post at the Conservatoire remained unfulfilled, his main employment was giving private music lessons and as a composer Zdenek Fibich wrote works for many musical genres: vocal and chamber music, piano pieces and orchestral works, operas, stage music and melodramas, literary recitals with orchestral accompaniment to which he gave a new lease of life. There are biographical traces to be found in the 376 piano pieces of the collection 'Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences' Op. 41, written in 1892-98: this tells of his love for his pupil Anezka Schulzová in the form of a 'piano diary'. Its four volumes were frequently a source of material for other works, such as the symphonic poem 'In the Evening' Op. 39 (also known as 'A Summer's Evening' and 'At Twilight'), written in 1893. For his second subject in this 'Idyll' Fibich used the minature no. 139, entitled 'Lento', from his collection of piano pieces. The violinst Jan Kubelík played the melody from 1908 onwards with the title 'Poème', and the work is still known today under this title: its easy charm has made it a favourite tune in the classical repertoire. This arrangement is based on the orchestral version from which other material was adapted for the Prelude.

2(2.pic).2.2.1.cbsn-2.2.0.0-timp-hp.cel-str violin and orchestra - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q42526 Fur Violine und Orchester. Composed by Ryan Wigglesworth. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 16 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q42526. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q42526). My Violin Concerto is scored for a Classical-sized orchestra, with the addition of a harp and celeste, and lasts around 17 minutes. Although the work sets out to explore the lyrical characteristics of the solo instrument, it is only gradually that the violin finds its full, lyric voice, and thence, as the work progresses, a more dominant role. This, in one sense, is the ‘journey’ of the piece. The work’s straightforward formal scheme consists of three movements (roughly fast–slow–fast) framed by a reflective introduction and epilogue. However, these formal divisions exist within a single, unbroken arc. Such an overall symmetrical shape places the slow Arioso (itself divided into three subsections) at the midpoint, sandwiched between the two Allegro movements. The dramaturgy of the piece centres on a twofold search. First there is the ongoing pursuit to ‘recapture’ the simple melodic material stated by the solo violin – accompanied by the harp’s bass register – during the opening bars. Whilst aspects of this melody are invoked frequently throughout (especially in the violin cadenza which closes the Arioso movement), it is only with the final and most important climax of the work that the melody appears again in its complete form, now accompanied by violent, orchestral stabs. The second search is for a tonal resting place, the arrival of which is delayed until the close of the epilogue. The original version of the Violin Concerto, commissioned by the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, was premiered in Amsterdam in February 2012 with Gordan Nikolic as soloist. The present, revised version was created for Barnabás Kelemen and the Hallé. The piece is dedicated, with admiration, to my friend Oliver Knussen. (Ryan Wigglesworth).
