It has become one of Mozart’s best loved melodies and features the birdcatcher Papageno. In the first production the role was played by the producer and theatre owner. He was not a trained singer so Mozart deliberately wrote a simple melody of limited range. The duet format gives instrumentalists an opportunity to play music written for the voice. The overall performance time is around a minute and a half. David McKeown #6212665. Published by David McKeown (A0.590542). Grá, (Irish for Love), is a beautiful original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Alto Saxophone. This duet is inspired by the Irish sean-nós style of singing. Originally sung unaccompanied in the Irish Gaelic language, in more recent times the melodies have been adapted as instrumentals, harmonised and given accompaniment. The songs are most often about love and loss and Grá aims to capture this melancholy mood.Grá is written for players at an intermediate standard and upwards. Expressive throughout, the first part of the melody is played above a drone. Simple accompaniment then builds towards a climax before the melody slips away like a distant echo. Players can add their own appropriate ornaments and variations to the melody if they wish. Grá has a performance time of a little over three minutes. Violin Duet Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1219839 By Grant Horsley. By Grant Horsley. Arranged by Grant Horsley. Contest,Festival,Folk,Latin,Multicultural,Patriotic,World. 22 pages. Grant Horsley #816201. Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1219839). A Piano Accompaniment track as an MP3 is also available.Jacaranda is a very tall tree with a purple bloom which is native to South America. This tree lines the streets of Buenos Aires which is considered by many to be the birthplace of the Argentinian Tango. This original Tango has two main sections- a passionate and animated section to begin with which clearly states the rhythms associated with the Tango, followed by a contrasting more wistful romantic middle section, which has the Cuban Habanera elements present, from which a Tango is derived. Then the piece returns to the first section taking it to a conclusionJacaranda is in the key of concert C minor with the middle section in C major. The range is around two octaves and I have tried to keep both parts interesting and equal with shared moments of melodic and rhythmic interest. It also has wide dynamic contrasts and heavy accents, along with legato and staccato phrasing, all of which are effectively used in this genre. It is set to Intermediate level- it is 4 mins 40 in length and would make a lovely addition to any programme. The youtube link has the full score so you can assess suitability. Price is for the full score and all parts.NB There are also versions available for Flute and Clarinet duet, Flute duet, Clarinet duet and well as versions for Flute and Clarinet choirs.

Trumpet Duet Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589064 Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Latin,Standards,World. Score. 7 pages. David McKeown #5755325. Published by David McKeown (A0.589064). Joropo de Justina is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Trumpets. This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Joropo which is the national and traditional music of Venezuela. The music and its accompanying dance comes from the central plains area and is also found over the border in parts of Colombia. The basic pulse of the Joropo is 3, but this is overlaid with complex cross-rhythms. The main instrument is the harp, along with cuatro and maracas as the only percussion instrument. In the modern era other instruments may join the ensemble, especially bass. This arrangement represents the song style of Joropo, with the vocal alternating with instrumental breaks. If you play to an advanced intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The many cross rhythms will provide a rhythmic challenge and there is little time to catch breath; following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Joropo de Justina has a performance time of around two minutes at full tempo. You can listen to a full performance the Clarinet version of this duet by following the YouTube link above. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203
