Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1039829 Composed by David M. Sterrett. Classical,Patriotic. Score and parts. 56 pages. David Sterrett Music #644674. Published by David Sterrett Music (A0.1039829). I feel honored and thankful to have been asked by Greg Hustis and the Music In the Mountains festival in Durango, Colorado to compose a piece honoring local firefighters and first responders following a deadly outbreak of wildfires around that region during the summer of 2018. When I learned about the fires, my heart went out to all the people affected. As the fires closed in from all around, beautiful mountain landscapes were burnt black, homes were threatened, and residents were forced to evacuate; however, the city and peoples’ homes were ultimately kept safe and no one was injured, all because of the fearless efforts of those who laid their lives on the line. My inspiration for the music, as well as the title, came directly from these heroes whose courage and effort proved to shine brighter than the flames. Although this piece was originally commissioned in response to this disaster in 2018, at its heart the piece is a tribute to all the brave heroes out there who fight in countless ways in the midst of disasters every day to keep all of us and our communities safe.

Mixed Percussion B-Flat Tuba,B-Flat trombone,Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,Bass Trombone,E-Flat Cornet,E-Flat Tenor Horn,E-Flat Tuba TC,Flugelhorn,Percussion 1,Percussion 2,Tenor Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1500747 By The Choir Of St. John's Colleg. By Maurice Gustavo Durufle. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Chamber,Film/TV,Religious,Sacred. Brass Band. 25 pages. John Ivor Holland #1076826. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1500747). The Requiem, Op. 9, is a 1947 (revised 1961) setting of the Latin Requiem by Maurice Duruflé for a solo voice, mixed choir, and organ, or orchestra with organ. The thematic material is mostly taken from the Mass for the Dead in Gregorian chant and first published in 1948 by Durand in an organ version. Duruflé was among French composers commissioned in May 1941 by the Vichy regime to write extended works for a monetary award, such as 10,000 francs for a symphonic poem, 20,000 for a symphony, and 30,000 for an opera. Duruflé decided to compose a symphonic poem, which ended up being the 'Requiem' and was still working on it in 1944 when the regime collapsed - he received 30,000 francs, instead of the 10,000 of his commission, because of the complex nature of his work and inflation during that time. A portion of the 'Pie Jesu' was used by Michael Jackson to introduce the track 'Little Susie' on 'HIStory - Past, Present and Future - Book I'. This arrangement for brass band features the Flugelhorn, taking on the role of the solo mezzo-soprano.

Published by Chicory Music (A0.734378). One of Oswald Durand's most famous works, the 1883 Choucoune (Yellow Bird) is a lyrical poem that praises the beauty of a Haitian woman of that nickname. It became a popular méringue lente (slow méringue) in Haiti, and was played prominently during the bicentennial celebrations in Port-au-Prince in 1949. Choucoune was recorded by Katherine Dunham and her Ensemble for the Decca album Afro-Caribbean Songs and Rhythms released in 1946 (with the title spelled as Choucounne), and was first recorded in Haiti by Emerante (Emy) de Pradines for her Voodoo - Authentic Music of Haiti album (Remington R-199-151) released in the USA in 1953.The song also appeared in the 1957 Calypso-exploitation film Calypso Heat Wave, performed by The Tarriers, sung by the group's lead singer, Alan Arkin. This arrangement of Yellow Bird includes: Full Score, 1st and 2nd Alto Sax, 1st and 2nd Tenor Sax (2nd Tenor Opt.) , Baritone Sax plus optional Acoustic Bass and Drum Set.
