Sections A and C are Ramseyer's 1941 song Just a Little While. The song talks about our enduring this life until Jesus Christ returns. Sections B and D are Heaven which is based on an anonymous melody from Hawaii. It talks about the place of no more loniness or sorrow. In essence, the idea is endurance until receiving the final reward. A modulation to a new key occurs towards the end of section B with the aid on a French augmented sixth chord. Descants byyours truly are added to both songs. There is a deceptive cadence at the end of section D before resolving ultimately to the tonic.

This strongly accented piece was skillfully constructed to exercise and master a variety of music articulations and training the ear for the unexpected, featuring a mechanical, indifferent, almost automatic piano play. It was written without pedal, but pedalling could be a good choice (depending on where). Predominantly dissonant harmonies are in continuum motion, sometimes colliding with each other like glass water bottles.

Originally for flute, I've transcibed it for bassoon and realized the figured bass for piano. Though the piece doesn't have a wide range (Eb2 - Eb4), by the last divisions there are plenty of running sixteenth notes, and no rests to be found anywhere. That makes this a good piece for technique and endurance, without having to worry much about notes themselves.You are encouraged to experiment with dynamics, articulations, and ornamentation.
