The indwelling of the Holy Spirit was not permanent until Pentecost, but the filling is seen throughout the pages of Scripture. ♫The filling of the Holy Spirit ought not be connected with one specific activity (such as the gift of tongues) but any activity that the Holy Spirit can use to accomplish bringing glory to God. Micah was filled with the Spirit of God when he prophesied against the leadership of Samaria and Jerusalem. Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit as he spoke to the pilgrims at Pentecost. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit as she greeted Mary, and of course Bezalel as he received knowledge and guidance to design and create the Tabernacle. ♫ I wrote this song in Haiti while meditating in Scripture and thinking about ministry. This song is short because I realized that it was better suited as a warmup for ministry than a congregational worship song. Whether on a concert stage or a church platform, it is so easy to get caught up during a performance and get sidetracked, concentrating on the the praise, recognition, acceptance from the audience that singing, playing and instrument, or preaching can bring. Length: 4:25 minsI was inspired to write this piece from the film Defiance directed by Edward Zwick which portrays a very small insight to events which occurred during the Holocaust. During several scenes the Bielski Partisans are seen walking (through Russian forest) in lines similar to an exodus movement from bombed camps, finding a new camp to live in. Nazis have been present and the Partisan group finds many remains of Jewish bodies piled up high in circles. This particular Partisan group has helped hundreds of Jews survive and by the end of the Holocaust, the group has a very large camp which includes a school, houses, dining room and many other normal facilities we have enjoy everyday. I was heavily influenced by film composer Hans Zimmer for his use of strings. I chose to write in C minor because of the depth of lower string instruments and the grieving tonality it brings to such a scene.
