Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1239681 Composed by David M. Stewart. March. 15 pages. DMStewart Music #835072. Published by DMStewart Music (A0.1239681). This piece, The Palatka Port March, is intended to depict a little of the sense of life in the early years of Floridaon the St. John’s River. It was once a target for ships venturing out to find the New World. It has been used to ferrybarges and livestock. Some simply used it for sailing and transportation throughout the years, and some to catch fishto provide for themselves. The life on this river has been diverse, yet fulfilling over the years and will continue to beso in the future. The melodies in this piece were taken from the shape of the St. Johns River from its upper point in Jacksonville, to where our part of the story ends in Palatka. Notice the falling and rising 8th note runs at the beginning, thisrepresents the rise and the fall of the river as it enters Jacksonville from the Atlantic Ocean. The first strain is alinear, yet very regal melody where the heavy beats follow the contour of the river as it runs south. Here you canpicture the ships coming from Europe across the ocean and the excitement they felt when they reached it. Thesecond strain is more playful and represents the life that the river has provided for people for centuries. The Triorepresents the calmness and civility when Palatka was discovered, and the happiness the settlers must have feltknowing they had found their perfect place to call home. The break strain represents the hard work and efforts thatwere put forth to secure the land and build a community. There would have been many triumphs and manysuccesses, but the journey would have not been easy. The final strain is the culmination of the piece. This is thecelebration and the feeling of personal nobility that all of the settlers felt after taking a river and dirt and building acity. I hope you enjoy, The Palatka Port March!

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956899 Composed by Charles Gonoud, Edward Elgar, Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Richard Wagner. Arranged by Woods Only. Christian,Film/TV,Romantic Period,Wedding,World. 62 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #6476473. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.956899). This collection brings the most well-known and appropriate music for wedding ceremonies, arranged for woodwind quintet, where you can find music from beginner to professional levels of performance. They can be performed not only specifically in marriage ceremonies, but also in serenades, concerts, recitals and others. I. Ave Maria, Charles Gonoud/BACH The piece is composed of a melody by French Romantic composer Charles Gounod specially designed to overlap with Prelude No. Although published in instrumental versions and equipped for various texts during Gounod's lifetime, the claim that he never actually wrote it seems to be literally true. The version of Bach's prelude used by Gounod has the addition of a bar found only in the manuscript of Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke and the printed edition of Nikolaus Simrock which was based on it, but not in the other Bach manuscripts or the printed work of the scholar Bischoff or G. II. Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Tchaikovsky The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is a dance for a ballerina. Tchaikovsky introduced the celesta to Russian music lovers on 19 March 1892 when the Nutcracker Suite was performed for the Russian Musical Society in St. Petersburg. It is heard in other parts of Act 2 of The Nutcracker besides the Sugar Plum Fairy's dance. The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is one of the ballet's best known musical numbers. The complete Nutcracker has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960s and is now performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Major American ballet companies generate around 40% of their annual ticket revenues from performances of The Nutcracker. III. Salut d'amour, Elgar It was not published by Schott & Co., a German publisher, with offices in Mainz, London, Paris and Brussels, until a year later, and the first editions were for violin and piano, piano solo, cello and piano, and for small orchestra. As a violin-and-piano piece Salut d'Amour had been recorded for The Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd (predecessor to The Gramophone Company) as early as 1901 by Jacques Jacobs, leader/director of the Trocadero Restaurant orchestra. IV. Nuptial March, Wagner It is a bridal march played at the entrance of many Western wedding ceremonies. In English-speaking countries, it is generally known as Here Comes the Bride or Wedding March, but wedding march refers to any piece in march tempo accompanying the entrance or exit of the bride, notably Felix Mendelssohn's Wedding March. Wagner's piece was made popular when it was used as the processional at the wedding of Victoria the Princess Royal to Prince Frederick William of Prussia in 1858. Unlike the current tradition of it being played at the beginning of the ceremony, the work is performed after the wedding of Lohengrin and Elsa in the opera. V. Wedding March, Mendelssohn Felix Mendelssohn's Wedding March in C major, written in 1842, is one of the best known of the pieces from his suite of incidental music. The first known instance of Mendelssohn's Wedding March being used at a wedding was when Dorothy Carew wed Tom Daniel at St Peter's Church, Tiverton, England, on 2 June 1847 when it was performed by organist Samuel Reay. However, it did not become popular at weddings until it was selected by Victoria, The Princess Royal for her marriage to Prince Frederick William of Prussia on 25 January 1858. The bride was the daughter of Queen Victoria, who loved Mendelssohn's music and for whom Mendelssohn often played while on his visits to Britain.

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549915 Composed by James M. Guthrie. Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #3911787. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549915). In Nomine: A prelude to the St Luke Organ Book (by Daniel Pinkham) for one single organ manual. Subtitled The Little Time Machine, the composition features one iteration of the In Nomine cantus firmus. As the piece progresses, the cantus is treated in medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, classical, romantic, and modern styles. I performed this piece just before the world premiere of Daniel Pinkham's St. Luke Organ Book in 2006.The history of In Nomine is rooted in its origin as a type of contrapuntal instrumental composition by 16th-century English composers, usually for a consort of viols, lute, or keyboard, based on a version of a piece of plainchant. The name In Nomine was adopted for this type of piece after the English composer John Taverner composed an instrumental piece based on the plainchant Gloria Tibi Trinitas to which he set the words In nomine Domini in his Gloria Tibi Trinitas six-voice Mass. Over the next 150 years, English composers worked this melody into In Nomine pieces of ever more fantastic stylistic range. This set a fashion, and several 20th-century composers, such as Peter Maxwell Davies and Roger Smalley, have quoted In Nomines in their works. The In Nomine played a significant role in developing English polyphony. It is a title given to many pieces of English polyphonic, predominantly instrumental music, first composed during the 16th century. The In Nomine was the chief means by which the grand tradition of vocal polyphony was brought to bear on the evolution of instrumental music in England. The In Nomine is considered the most conspicuous single form in the early development of English consort music and is significant in the genesis of chamber music in England. It marked the first time a specific instrumental style was formed, and it influenced the development of English polyphony by bringing the tradition of vocal polyphony into the realm of instrumental music.Despite various attempts by scholars to elucidate its almost legendary origin, the mystery of the origin of the In Nomine remains unsolved.

SATB divisi chorus a cappella - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1505 Composed by Martin Åsander. Kitty O'Meara wrote a poem during the Covid-19 pandemic. Like the virus, the poem got viral and spread across the world – but with a message of hope. Here put to music for choir a cappella. Secular. 11 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1505. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1505). 8.27 x 11.7 inches. We all remember the pandemic that swept the planet in early 2020. Lifestyles changed: less social contact, followed by rapid change in workplaces, health care and other institutions. Everyone was affected in some way. Playing music – and choir singing in particular – was considered by many countries to pose an increased risk of spreading infection and was discouraged. During these strange times, I found a poem by Kitty O’Meara on social media. The text originates from her own blog post in March 2020 with the title In the Time of Pandemic. The poem poses an image for a distinctive perspective during the coronavirus outbreak, the hope that something good can come from a collective state of together, apart. The idea of individual freedom of action when things are beyond our control, and at the same time a notion that the time after this will not only exist but can be better than before. The lyrics inspired the music to be both meditative with repetitive phrases and motifs and also uplifting and full of confidence and joy. And the People Stayed Home was commissioned to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the St Jacob’s Vocal Ensemble and was first performed at St Jacob’s Church in Stockholm on November 19, 2022. – Martin Åsander.

Countertenor, 2 tenors and baritone; solo voices or men's choir - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6253 For four unaccompanied voices or male choir (CtenTTBar). Composed by Gavin Bryars. This edition: choral score. Choral Music of Our Time. Downloadable, choral score. Duration 7 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6253. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6253). Latin.Commissioned by the York Early Music Foundation for the Orlando Consort, Super Flumina focuses on a legend associated with St Mary’s Abbey in York where in 1377 fisherman brought the lifeless body of a 14 year-old girl who had fallen into the Ouse to the chapel. The monks prayed that the girl would intercede and had begun to sing the anthem Ave Regina Caelorum when she regained consciousness and went on to recover completely that same evening. This work for four male voices or male choir demonstrates Bryars’ vocal writing at its best and breathes new life into early musical traditions. A treat for both amateur and professional singers or choirs.

Scholars point out a number of hymn fragments in the New Testament. For example, 1 Timothy 3:16:          He appeared in a body,           Was vindicated by the Spirit,               Was seen by angels,       Was preached among the nations,           Was believed on in the world,               Was taken up into glory. The metrical patterns made memorization of creeds easier, especially when associated with a melody.Sing, My Tongue, the Glorious Battle is a great example of an early hymn written to codify Christology (the theology of Jesus Christ), covering his birth to his death, and then ending–as many hymns did–with a doxological stanza. If I were still planning worship services, I would be intrigued by the idea of making this hymn the outline of a Lenten service...perhaps interspersing scripture or other narration between stanzas, alternating between choir and congregation, and varying the accompanying instrumental textures. If you like this format, you may be interested in a published volume of 75 similar arrangements: BEST-LOVED HYMNS I  (© FJH Music, distributed by Alfred Music).************It has long been my passion and privilege to create customized arrangements for the churches and schools with whom I have been associated. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.30599EB). ISBN 9781619117198. 8.75x11.75 inches.John Fahey transformed the world of acoustic flat-top steel-string guitar by bringing it to the concert stage as a respected, solo instrument. Blind Joe Death: Volume 1 looks at the important people and genres that shaped him as a composer. This volume focuses on Side 1 of the original 1967 Blind Joe Death LP, a collection of mostly traditional music that was adapted for solo guitar. Hints of Fahey's early influences endured throughout his career as a composer, yet early on, and in Blind Joe Death, a unique voice is coming into focus-one that is not afraid to explore the avant-garde with journeys into collage and expressionism. Six extensively edited solos from Blind Joe Death are included in Volume 1: On Doing an Evil Deed Blues, St. Louis Blues, Poor Boy a Long Ways from Home, Uncloudy Day, John Henry and In Christ There Is No East or West. Within these transcriptions, Andrew Lardner has provided admirers of John Fahey's body of work with the essential keys to launch their own journeys into replicating the sounds and style of Fahey's landmark solos from Blind Joe Death.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1027894 Composed by William Elsom. Contemporary. Score and parts. 46 pages. Will Elsom #3053855. Published by Will Elsom (A0.1027894). Programme Notes Boudicca became the Queen of the Iceni upon the death of her husband, Prasutagus. The Iceni had lived in relative peace with the Romans, with Prasutagus living as a client king, paying tribute to Rome. The Romans refused to accept a woman as the ruler, and sought to assume total control. To demonstrate its superiority, a Roman Legion attacked the Iceni, captured Boudicca and made her watch as her daughters were raped. She sought revenge, allying the Iceni with the Trinovantes under her command, and wreaked havoc, destroying many Roman settlements. Boudicca was only stopped when Rome sent one of the best generals of the time, Seutonius Paulinus. Seutonius has been depicted offering Boudicca surrender with honour and her life, but when she rejected this, his tactical acumen proved superior, and all the Iceni and Trinovantes were wiped out. 1 – Boudicca Unites the Tribes The piece opens with the initial statement of Boudicca’s theme. Figure 3 depicts Boudicca’s reign as the leader of the Iceni, interspersed with a sadder theme depicting her lonely widowhood. Figure 4 sees the tribes called together with a drinking song and Figure 5 is the war cry, as Boudicca gives a rousing speech, first to her own warriors then to the Trinovantes. The second time bar before Figure 7 sees the tribes fall into a restless sleep. Amid early morning mists, Figure 7 sees restless horses, with distant fanfares heard, signalling the coming of the Romans. The Romans main theme is at Figure 8, with a constant fanfare over the top, signalling the confidence of the leaders. Figure 10 sees the Iceni and Trinovantes coming slowly out of hiding, and Boudicca’s theme growing in volume until the death chords signify the tribes have prevailed. 2. The Bards Sing The tribes sing a hymn to an unnamed Pagan God. At Figure 13, the Euphonium develops Boudicca’s theme depicting Taranis, the Bard of the Iceni, singing wistfully of happier times. He then makes an impassioned speech for peace, before cutting off in mid sentence. He then sits quietly (Figure 16) fearing the future. Figure 17 gives a euphoric and hopeful rendition of the hymn, as if Taranis has not been heard. 3 – Epping NB: It is my piece, and I say Epping is as credible as anywhere as the site of the final battle, and will not enter into any correspondence on the matter! A fanfare awakens the two tribes. Figure 18 sees the tribes prepare for a final battle, and the repeated section depicts two victories at Verulanium (St Albans) and Londinium (London – then a small barracks). At Figure 20 Taranis has a vision, and tries to change Boudicca’s mind about another attack. Boudicca listens to him, but tells him the die is cast, and there is no going back. Death or Glory… The war cry ensues at Figure 21, but at Figure 22 it is the Romans’ theme heard, and the death chords (Figure 24) signify that it is the two tribes that are being slaughtered this time. Brave souls (Repiano and Flugel at 24) fight on in vain to allow Boudicca to escape. At Figure 25 Boudicca prays, but realising all is lost, at Figure 26 drinks poison. As she dies, the last thing this brave British heroine hears is the sound of the Roman’s theme, signifying Seutonius’ total victory.   William Elsom, December 2004
