In view of the many actual wars and crises worldwide, my concert “Frieden” (“Peace”) for trumpet, percussion, timpani, string quartet and string orchestra from 2023 represents my explicit commitment to humanity, democracy and discourse instead of hate, dictatorship and intolerance . At the center of the work is a great music of sorrow including a passacaglia. And I chose this particular very old musical form because war has for centuries accompanied people and always causes suffering and misery. But as I am an optimist a cautiously positive finale should not be missing from my concert.

Mein Konzert „Frieden“ in der reizvollen Besetzung von Trompete, Schlagwerk, Pauken, Streichquartett und Streichorchester aus dem Jahr 2023 stellt angesichts der vielen Kriege und Krisen weltweit mein ganz ausdrückliches Bekenntnis zu Menschlichkeit, Demokratie und Diskurs statt Hass, Diktatur und Intoleranz dar. Im Zentrum des Werkes steht eine große Trauermusik samt Passacaglia. Diese sehr alte musikalische Form habe ich gewählt, da der Krieg die Menschen seit Jahrhunderten begleitet und immer wieder nur Leid und Elend hervorruft. Aber da ich Optimist bin, darf auch ein vorsichtig positives Finale in meinem Konzert nicht fehlen.

In nur 35 Takten gelingt es dem mehrfach preisgekrönten Komponisten, Textgehalt und Tonfall dieser der Gedichtsammlung „Zauber- und Segenssprüche“ von Werner Bergengruen (1892-1964) entnommenen Bitte um Frieden einfühlsam nachzuspüren und musikalisch umzusetzen. Ein sehr bewegendes Kleinod der A-cappella-Chorliteratur, das bestens geeignet ist für ambitionierte Laienchöre, die intonationssicher sind und modulatorische Wendungen nicht scheuen.
