Algo Se Me Va

Ay mira, me voy a caer.

Mami, yo soy muy feliz,
Mira, besándote así,
Mami, yo soy muy feliz,
Mira, besándote así.

Papi, no beses así,
Tengo, suficiente ya,
Basta, basta de una vez,
Ay mira, me voy a caer.

Composed by Geoffrey Peterson. Contemporary. Score and parts. 43 pages. Geoffrey Peterson #4267231. Published by Geoffrey Peterson (A0.942953).

Link to complete recording: https://soundcloud.com/geoffrey-peterson/sets/the-edmund-fitzgerald-concerto On November 9th, 1975, the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald left port in Superior, Wisconsin. The 729-foot-long iron ore carrier, loaded with 26 thousand tons of taconite pellets for the auto industry, was bound for Detroit. Earlier that day, the weather service had issued a gale warning. This was not unusual, considering that gale storms are typical during November on Lake Superior. The Fitzgerald’s Captain, Ernest McSorley, and her 29-member crew headed northeast unaware of the maelstrom they would soon encounter. At around 2 a.m., Bernie Cooper, captain of the Arthur M. Andersen, another freighter which was following a few miles behind the Fitzgerald, radioed Captain McSorley to consult with him about the worsening storm. They had both decided to take a more northerly route along the Canadian shore, which they hoped would provide some shelter from the violent gale winds and waves. The Fitzgerald’s long-range radar stopped working the following day and was needed in order to avoid Six-Fathom Shoal, a shallow area of Lake Superior that could rupture the ship’s hull. McSorley soon radioed the Anderson to report that the Fitzgerald had sustained some topside damage...a fence rail down, two vents lost or damaged, and a starboard list. A list meant that the Fitzgerald was taking on too much water and was causing it to lean to one side. The short-range radar also stopped working, and the radio direction beacon from nearby Whitefish Point vanished. This would make it impossible for the Fitzgerald to reach the lee waters of Whitefish Bay and escape the 80 mph winds churning 20 to 30-foot waves. At 7:10 p.m. that night, First Mate Morgan Clark of the Andersen radioed the Fitzgerald to see how they were doing. Captain McSorley replied, We’re holding our own. This was the last contact anyone would have with the Fitzgerald. Shortly thereafter, the Edmund Fitzgerald disappeared from the Anderson’s radar screen. All 29 of her crew were lost on November 10th, 1975. The Edmund Fitzgerald chronicles the tragic final voyage of the well-known shipwreck in 4 movements; Embarkment, The Gales, Six-Fathom Shoal (We’re holding our own.) and Entombment-Dirge. The concerto makes use of several musical quotes. The first is Spanish Ladies, an English sea chantey, which appears in both the 1st and 3rd movements. The second is the funeral march theme from the 2nd movement of Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony which is heard in the 4th movement of the concerto. In addition, a chime is rung 29 times during the final bars of the concerto to memorialize the men who lost their lives. The Crew of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald: Michael E. Armagost, Frederick J. Beetcher, Thomas D. Bentsen, Edward F. Bindon, Thomas D. Borgeson, Oliver J. Champeau, Nolan S. Church, Ransom E. Cundy, Thomas E. Edwards, Russell G. Haskell, George J. Holl, Bruce L. Hudson, Allen G. Kalmon, Gordon F. MacLellan, Joseph W. Mazes, John H. McCarthy, Ernest M. McSorley, Eugene W. O'Brien, Karl A. Peckol, John J. Poviach, James A. Pratt, Robert C. Rafferty, Paul M. Op. 34. Composed by Eugene Walckiers. Edited by Edmund Wachter and Elisabeth Weinzierl. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. Op. 34. 27 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53377. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53377).

English • German.

As a pupil of Antonin Reicha at the Paris Conservatoire Eugène Walckiers, originally from the French part of Flanders, joined the ranks of illustrious French composers such as Hector Berlioz, Charles Gounod and César Franck. He studied the flute with Jean-Louis Tulou and was one of the few celebrated flute virtuosos of the time whose reputation has survived to this day, thanks to their compositions for and including the flute. He himself played regularly in a legendary quartet with the best flautists of his day: Jean Firmin Brossa, Johannes Donjon and Paul Taffanel. This Fantaisie sur des Motifs de l’Opera “Guillaume Tell†was published in the year following the first performance of the opera both by Schott in Mainz and, with insignificant discrepancies, by Troupenas in Paris (Plate number 374), the original publisher of Rossini’s last four operas. Plate no. 3289 / published in 1830.

Composed by Joseph Haydn/Leopold Mozart. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Children,Christmas,Classical,Standards. 35 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6050327. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553894).

This work was long reputed to be the work of Joseph Haydn, but later scholarship suggested that it was actually written by Leopold Mozart. Its authorship is still disputed, however, and other composers have been proposed as the symphony's true author, including Joseph Haydn's younger brother Michael Haydn, who purportedly contributed movements to the work.

Recent research on a newly found manuscript suggests the Austrian Benedictine monk Edmund Angerer (1740–1794) to be the author. If Angerer's manuscript (from 1765, entitled Berchtolds-Gaden Musick) is the original, the Toy Symphony was originally written not in G but rather in C. These findings, however, are disputed among scholars. There is reason to believe that the true composer will likely never be known, in whole or in part, given its confused origins and the paucity of related manuscript sources.

Even without a name attached to it, the piece has become a mainstay for children's shows and Christmastime concerts. Each of its three movements features the sounds of actual toys and instruments that sound like they came straight from Geppetto's workshop.

The piece calls for a toy trumpet, ratchet, nightingale, cuckoo, drum, and triangle. ( A quail makes it’s only appearance in the 2nd movement.

Noisemakers rattle throughout the first of its three movements.

The cuckoo and trumpet  call out mischievously during the minuetto of the second movement , and a quail joins the nightingale in the trio.

In the short third mvt which is played 3 times, they all play again, each repeat faster than the previous one.

The presence of the toy instruments make this a fun piece for children to play, especially when there are also some toys waiting under the tree.

My arrangement is based on the Kinder-Symphonie attributed to Leopold Mozart. It is scored in C.
It is in 3 mvts and is arranged for wind quintet, and toy percussion.

It can be peformed as a stand alone  wind quintet without percussion as all of the important cues (the trumpet and cuckoo) are written in to the instrumnt parts.
i have distributed the original strings around the woodwind, and composed an original classical horn part.

Sometimes known as The Children’s Symphony

Also available as a wind dectet/bass arrangement.

English • German.

Xavier Boisselot studied composition at the Paris Conservatoire. In 1836 he won the 1er Grand prix de Rome with his cantata Velléda. His opera Ne touchez pas à la reine was first performed in 1847, followed by Mosquita la sorcière. Despite growing success, after 1850 he spent less time working on composition as he took over the management of his father’s piano factory Boisselot & Fils in Marseille. Flautist Jean Rémusat came from Bordeaux. In 1832 he won the 1er prix at the Paris Conservatoire, where he studied with Jean-Louis Tulou. He worked as principal flautist at the Queen’s Theatre in London until its closure in 1853. After a few more years working at the Théâtre Lyrique in Paris he went to work as a conductor in Shanghai, where he died at the age of 65. Rémusat – generally referred to without his first name – is often encountered by flautists as the arranger of well-known pieces from that time. Plate no. 12099 / published in 1853.

Composed by Edmund L. Gruber. Arranged by Bill Wilson. Holiday,Patriotic. 19 pages. Alexander Wilson #3478469. Published by Alexander Wilson (A0.775129).

Edmund L. Gruber's The Caissons Go Rolling Along was written in the early 1900's and was later adopted as the official song of the United States Army.   Our arrangement of this presents the song twice. The first time it is presented in a transcription that is quite faithful to a 1921 publication of the song. The second time it is presented in a big band swing style.   This arrangement is suitable for use in informal Fourth of July festivities. Arranged for brass quintet (two Bb trumpets, French horn, trombone, and tuba). Performance time is approximately 1:40.
