I've added my own bowings and fingerings based on what feels right and sounds good to me. Slides are marked with either a slanted line or the word slide. The two slanted lines in m. 17, however, mean to lift off at the end of the bow stroke. This helps give a skipping sound to the last note of the measure and puts you at the frog, the perfect setup for the long bows at m. 18-20. I also recommend doing a lift off at the end of the half note in m. 23. The form is ABCB, and on your last pass through the progression follow the To Coda to the Coda / Ending. Written primarily for those who are moving on in the world to greater things, it is meant to be a true testament to the power which has been instilled in us. The term Pastueño comes from the Andalucian Spanish Flamenco guitar music. Pastueño is a stylistic ability of the player described as slow and peaceful like the calm and fearless bull. We find this slow, calm gate in the repeated open 5ths of the piano. This pulse, along with the extended E minor chord is the underlying tone and driving force of the song. The tenuto and staccato repeats are meant to be imitative of the strumming of a guitar with the syncopation of the RH in the piano. Each articulation given or not given is deliberate and helps to solidify and enhance the imitation of the guitar in the piano line. The vocal line follows a soulful, jazz-inspired melody line that enhances the effect of the Spanish inspired theme. The complicated rhythms and articulations are composed in a manner to help emphasize syllabic stress and expression.
