The arrangement took me a couple of hours to create, and I based it directly on the music, listening to the song and transcribing it. When practicing the song, I suggest you split it up phrase by phrase. If you have trouble with certain measures, isolate those measures and practice. After, it will be easier to play the entire section you are working on. This also helps with memorizing. Ed Sheeran Perfect for Piano Solo is appropriate for high intermediate and advanced students looking to play popular music which sound great. It will take a lot of practice for the student to complete depending on his or her level. Remember to omit notes if needed in the right hand! The arrangement is 4.5 pages long, and should take about 4 minutes to play. You can omit (leave out) some of the bottom notes on the right hand to help you make the arrangement easier.

The book includes precise fingering, reading, and bowing skills; double stops, dotted notes, intervals, scales, and syncopation.  The book also addresses dynamics (pianissimo, piano, forte, fortissimo,  etc.), tempo (largo, lento, adagio, andante, moderato, etc.), and articulations (legato-slurs, accents, fermata, staccato, spiccato bowing). The right hand is thoroughly and sequentially developed through a series of bow techniques.  Each bow technique defines a specific action required to produce an acceptable bow hand. The book uses a note-to-note sequence with finger's indication above and below the note heads.  Accurate illustrations of the bow and fingerboard help develop proper playing position and mixing finger patterns. This technique creates better left-hand shape and helps develop proper playing position from the beginning. New material is carefully paced, sequential and immediately reinforced. In the key of ‘D’ the song starts with the notes ‘C#’ and ‘E’ and then the first bar is indicated as ‘D’ major chord. If you start the song playing a ‘D’ chord you will most likely sing the wrong notes because ‘C#’ and ‘E’ belong to the A7 chord of the song. So a simple 2 bar intro of ‘D’ , A7 (start singing on the last beat) and back to ‘D’ would help the singer to get the tempo and sing the correct pick-up notes. The printed sheet music of ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ ends on an ‘A7’ chord of the chorus and as such does not indicate that the end chord should be ‘D’. So it is not always safe to assume that the end chord in printed music indicates the key of the song. Lyrics with chord symbols to show when to change chords. Matching the fingerpicking tab or sheet music to the lyrics can sometimes prove difficult so I have included a lyrics sheet of ‘You can close your eyes’ with chord symbols. This is a very popular format to give an indication when to change chords. However, the drawback is that there is no way of knowing how long each chord lasts as the bar structure is missing.
