TWO version for the price of one: in the key of Bb (ensuring a central range, Bb to Bb, with occasional high C and low A approached by grade) AND in the key of Eb (from low D to high F) avoiding the 6th position.
Both voices are conceived with some rest opportunities. The duet can be played in shortes segments to avoid fatigue in younger players. Dynamics are suggestions only.

Im Jahr 2009 jährte sich die Uraufführung von Richard Strauss’ Elektra im Königlichen Opernhaus Dresden zum hundertsten Mal. Längst gilt die Oper als Meilenstein in der Musikgeschichte. Zugleich markiert ihre Ent - stehung einen Schlüsselmoment im Schaffen des Komponisten: Mit der Elektra beginnt eine der erfolgreichsten künstlerischen Partnerschaften der Geschichte. Zum ersten Mal vertonte Strauss hier ein Werk des österreichischen Librettisten und Dramatikers Hugo von Hofmannsthal. Aus ihrer kongenialen Zusammenarbeit sollte noch eine Reihe weiterer erfolgreicher Opern entstehen, darunter Der Rosenkavalier, Arabella sowie Die Frau ohne Schatten. Stärker als Sophokles akzentuiert Hofmannsthal in seiner Elektra die psychologischen Extreme, für die Strauss eine neue Tonsprache erfindet. Machtvoll sprengt seine Musik die Grenzen der Tonalität. Die für ein mit 120 Personen besetztes Orchester komponierte Musik verleiht den hysterischen Rachegelüsten der Elektra, Klytämnestras Rastlosigkeit und Chrysothemis’ Sehnsüchten gleichermaßen Ausdruck.
