Blue Moon is a popular song written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934 that has become a standard ballad.  Blue Moon became an international number-one hit for the doo-wop group the Marcels, on the Billboard 100 chart and in the UK Singles Chart, and later that same year, an instrumental version by the Ventures charted at No. 54. Władziu Valentino Liberace(May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor.  A child prodigy born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin, he enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. At the height of his fame from the 1950s to 1970s, he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world!

This 1934 Jazz Standard has a storied beginning when Rodgers and Hart were asked by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to write songs for the film Hollywood Party.  The lyrics were reworked many times, ending up with this more romantic version, which was used as the theme to the radio program Hollywood Hotel.  It became a staple for movie soundtracks and cabaret shows.
It has had many covers since then, including Glen Gray and the Casa Loma Orchestra, Connee Boswell, Elvis Presley, The Marcels, Billy Holiday, Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart, and even Eric Clapton, to name a few.
