The song first appeared in the movie Walter Wanger's Vogues of 1938, which was actually released in 1937. Sung there by Virginia Verrill, it was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1937 but lost out to Sweet Leilani. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We added what we think are some pretty cool left-hand fills that we hope you will like! ISBN 9790570484874.Leslie Craven and Peter Fielding were preparing for the Clarinet Convention in Cardiff and asked me if I could provide them with an interesting new ensemble piece for the final concert that would include all the instruments available at the Convention in April. It was a cold December day and I was enjoying my favourite comfort food - Irish Stew - and I thought that this was an apt title. The medley includes The Irish Washerwoman, The Star of the County Down, The Rakes of Mallow, The Mountains of Mourne, Boolavogue, and several others including my favourite, Danny Boy. It moves through varied styles and moods, with all the parts contributing to the melodies. Irish Stew can be adapted and modified, and could include many elements of theatre, with the addition of props and percussion as envisaged by the players and their director.

In 1848, he joined with friends to found the Armingaud Quartet, playing viola and second violin. Lalo's earliest surviving compositions are songs and chamber works. He dedicated most of his career to the composition of chamber music, which was in vogue, and to writing works for orchestra. These two works beautifully arranged by Mr. Sauder show the core of Lalo's chamber music; personal, subtle at times and filled with a French lyricism. For advanced performers.
