Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927945 Composed by Orlando Gibbons. Arranged by Tim Brooke. Classical,Concert,Renaissance,Standards. Score and parts. 5 pages. Castleroyan Press #4980707. Published by Castleroyan Press (A0.927945). Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625) was an English composer, organist and virginalist of the Elizabethan and late Jacobean periods.  Despite his early death he nevertheless produced a number of the most celebrated vocal, choral, instrumental and keyboard works of that rich period in English music.  This Pavan (later included in The Fitzwilliam Virginal Book) is the first part of the famous Pavan and Galliard (The Lord Salisbury), which has become one of his best-known compositions to have entered the present-day repertory. It has been performed and recorded many times, most notably perhaps by Glenn Gould in 1970.

Treble recorder and piano - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q16130 Variations on an Old Folk Song. Composed by Harald Genzmer. This edition: Sheet music. Folk song. Original Music for Recorder. In this work Genzmer merges the musical language of a traditional English love song with his own unmistakeably contemporary idiom. The four Variations and Coda are an attractively different take on a favourite old tune. Downloadable. Duration 8 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q16130. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q16130). Commissioned by the Schott publishing house, the present variations on the song 'Greensleeves' were written in 2000 by Genzmer who seized on the suggestion to write a cycle of variations on this Old English melody which had often served as a theme for variations in music history, as for example in the famous anonymous cycle 'Greensleeves to a ground' (around 1700). Genzmer keeps the theme simple, yet with great virtuosity and original harmony. All parts are written in a linear fashion. The four variations observe, almost in a classical manner, the principle of increasing differentiation and acceleration of the rhythm. Variation 1 uses crotchets and quavers as well as semiquaver triplets, whereas Variation 2 uses semiquavers throughout and Variation 3 the somewhat faster semiquaver triplets. Variation 4 stays on this fast rhythmic level with semiquavers and semiquaver triplets. A rewarding piece for the 'Jugend musiziert' competition as well as for advanced lessons.

Bassoon Sextet - Intermediate - Digital Download. Carol of the Bells' was written by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych in 1914 with lyrics by Peter J. Wilhousky. The song is based on the Ukrainian folk chant Shchedryk, a New Year's song, known in English as The Little Swallow, and utilizes a four-note ostinato which brings to mind the ringing of bells. Originally intended to be sung a capella by a mixed four-part choir it has since been recorded into over 150 versions and re-arrangements for various vocal and instrumental compositions. One version, Ring, Christmas Bells, an English-language variant with Nativity-based lyrics, was written by Minna Louise Hohman in 1947. Regis Bookshar has now arranged the music for a Bassoon Sextet. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (16 pages). In addition to this version for 6 Bassoons, many other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of instrumental ensembles, including Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets, as well as numerous other selections in a wide variety of styles. The verses of this Anglican priest who was a contemporary of John Donne describe beautifully a dialog between 'Love’ (the Divine) and the human being.  The score attempts to illustrate the dramatic progression of this spiritual dialogue in which the eternal ´Love´ gives himself up to welcome the human being with merciful insistence as a privileged guest at a mystical meal. To make this dialogue clear while the choir takes the voice of the human nature -full of shame and guilt- while the Trebles assume the voice of the Divine Love -full of mercy and compassion-.  Neither the choosing of trebles nor the number 3 is casual: Childhood evokes naturally ideas of love and purity which are attributes of God himself, thus trebles seemed to me an appropriate choice to represent the voice of “Love†and the fact that there are three, is an intended reference to the Christian doctrine of the Trinity.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011435 Composed by Tim Risher. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 27 pages. Tim Risher #3681137. Published by Tim Risher (A0.1011435). SATB and Organ. In English.Kyrie 1:50Gloria 2:10 Sanctus 1:00 Agnus Dei 2:05 This Missa L'homme armé is based on the famous tune used by many composers in the 15th and 16th centuries. I have used as the base material in different ways; sometimes quoting directly (Agnus Dei), sometimes using the melodic intervals to create the movement (Sanctus). The text is in English; from the Episcopalian Book of Common Prayer. Each movement is short and the counterpoint is kept to a minimum for clarity of text. It is appropriate for church services; the piece is written so one movement can be performed as an indivicual work.In a concert setting, it of course may be performed complete. There is no Credo movement; that was a decision on my part, as singing the Credo in the Episcopalian service (or Anglican) is not usual.

Saxophone Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813805 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6487183. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813805). O Spirit All-Embracing (Thaxted) (Bb) (Saxophone Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of O Spirit All-Embracing, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All-Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Saxophone Quintet, consisting of 2 Alto Saxophones, 2 Tenor Saxophones and 1 Baritone Saxophone (which has the lead), he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of O Spirit All-Embracing based on the Andante Maestoso sec.
