Woodwind Ensemble Bassoon - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813702 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6474015. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813702). Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets) (Bassoon Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but if you are considering using this selection for church services in which a congregation may sing along, I would suggest that you look for the arrangements of either I Vow to Thee, My Country, O God, Beyond All Praising, O Spirit All Embracing or Thaxted, also by Regis Bookshar. They are all based on the same excerpt from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Bassoon Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Jupiter based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav.

Veni, Veni, Emmanuel, also known as O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, is a Christian hymn for Advent. It has ancient origins, as the melody synthesizes the great, ancient O Antiphons sung for Vespers during Advent. The familiar tune, Veni Emmanuel, was first linked with this hymn in 1851, when Thomas Helmore published it in the Hymnal Noted, paired with an early revision of Neale's English translation. Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1183999 By Wesley Besancon. By Wesley Besancon. Arranged by Wesley Besancon. Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,Patriotic,World. Score and parts. 111 pages. Wesley Besancon #783697. Published by Wesley Besancon (A0.1183999). Have you ever wondered who was credited for setting up the first Thanksgiving? Or who braught peace to the tension between Natives and English? Squanto is credited for doing both of these things. One of the first recoreded Native Americans, Squanto lived from 1585 to 1622. He was part of the Patuxet tribe, and taught settlers how to satisfy basic needs. And as far as the eye can see, there is no band music dedicated for him. So I have made a piece showing what may have happened when the settlers came. While not completly accurate, It is a great representation (and honor to Squanto) for your next concert!. The piece begins on a nice warm day, in a playful, dancelike movement, this quickly turns to anger as they see a bird that is not able to be hunted. This confusion leads to the mysteriousness that was most likely happening upon the natives. They start to pray to their gods. All of a sudden, the ship lands and a war breaks out! But Squanto wants to embrace this new culture they have brought, which slowly calms the fighting down. Eventually, the English Culture (represented by Hot Cross Buns) is embraced in the polytonal ways (disagreement). The final part is a chorale representing peace.Errata: 107: Singing is stopped.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,English Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.963341 Composed by Max Reger. Arranged by Cristiano Vecchi. 20th Century,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. 15 pages. Cristiano Vecchi #4795997. Published by Cristiano Vecchi (A0.963341). Version for Double Reed Quintet : Oboes 1&2 - English Horn - Bassoons 1&2 . Duration: 2'15'' .This unquiet, virtuosistic, double-soul introverted-extroverted toccata precedes the powerful last fugue in the Suite for Organ Op.92 (1905) by Max Reger, masterwork of the late Romanticism that anticipates so many trends of the Expressionism period: loss of the tonal sense, exasperating contrasts, giant spots of vibrating timbrical color. Plus, the all-pervading memories and attitudes of the baroque period (specially the Bach's lesson) give to this music an irresistible charme, emotional and intellectual. SCORE and PARTS. Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1144863 Composed by English Folk Song. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. A Cappella,Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional. Octavo. 11 pages. Mark R Lewis #745181. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1144863). Scarborough Fair is an English folk song that is centuries old in which a young man tells about his love and lists a series of impossible tasks for her to complete. The song has remained popular throughout the years but was particularly brought into public eye when the folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel covered it incorporating lyrics of their own. This a cappella, TTBB quartet/choir with optional hand drum part by Mark Lewis showcases all four voice parts with key changes that place the melody nicely within every vocal range. Each verse explores a different method of accompaniment giving the whole choir a variety of choral experiences.
