The Jellybean Jive is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Oboe and one Bassoon. 

The Jellybean Jive is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. Jive originally referred to African American slang in the 1930s when Big Band Swing was the popular music of the time. The Second World War brought Swing and Lindy Hop dancing to the UK and British audiences preferred to call it Jive.

The Jellybean Jive is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo, some syncopated rhythms and accidentals. Just a Closer Walk With Thee is an Afro-American Spiritual Hymn and Song. This version is arranged as a duet for one Oboe and one Bassoon.

Little is known of the origins of Just a Closer Walk With Thee, other than it was sung in African-American churches in the nineteenth century. National religious conventions in the 1930s gave the hymn a wider audience. Many versions were recorded in the 1940s and Just a Closer Walk With Thee was quickly adopted as a standard by the New Orleans Jazz revival.

Steal Away to Jesus is an American nineteenth century spiritual. This version is arranged as a duet for one Oboe and one Bassoon.

The words and music of Steal Away to Jesus are credited to Wallis Willis, a Native American freedman from Oklahoma. A local minister transcribed the song and within a few years it became a firm gospel favourite. The words have a meaning beyond the spiritual, with hidden references to the Underground Railway of the time that helped escaped slaves cross to Canada. In more recent times Steal Away to Jesus was arranged by Michael Tippett in 1944 and recorded famously by Mahalia Jackson and Nat King Cole.
