Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1260597 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. A Cappella,Baroque,Classical,Opera. Octavo. 4 pages. Scott S. Stewart #853790. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1260597). “O Sleep, Why Dost Thou Leave Me?â€, from Georg Friedrich Händel’s oratorio/opera Semele (1743), is sung by the lovely, yet vain and ambitious princess, Semele of Thebes.  She awakens and regrets that the dream she was having has ended, and calls upon Sleep to return and restore her peaceful vision. (This aria is often suggested listening to those suffering from insomnia.)  This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble to be performed a cappella.  It’s purpose is twofold: to serve as an introduction to Händel and English Baroque music, while at the same time teaching young sopranos a performable aria for their solo repertoire. Performance time: 2:15+-.
