Viola Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.531059 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Klas Krantz. Folk. Individual part. 5 pages. Amadeus Music #22705. Published by Amadeus Music (A0.531059). The origin of the tune was for a long time somewhat mysterious, as no other collector of folk tunes encountered it, and all known examples are descended from Ms. Ross’ submission to Petrie’s collection (1855). The title of the air comes from the name of the county located in Northern Ireland. The air was collected by Jane Ross of Limavady, County Londonderry, who heard it played by an itinerant piper or fiddler. The descendants of blind fiddler Jimmy McCurry assert that he is the musician from whom she transcribed the tune but there is no historical evidence to support this speculation. The tune was listed as an anonymous air, with a note attributing its collection to Jane Ross of Londonderry. This led to the descriptive title Londonderry Air being used for the piece.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1266273 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Snakewood Editions. Baroque,Classical. Score and Parts. 12 pages. Sneakwood Editions #859004. Published by Sneakwood Editions (A0.1266273). The autograph is held in the Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria di Torino (I-Tn, Giordano 34, Bl. 100-102). It is the only known copy of this work. The work was surely composed between 1725 and 1734.[2]  It is copied in full score format. In the known catalog of Vivaldi’s works we find another piece that shares the same title, it is the Sonata à 4 al Santo Sepolcro (Sonata in E flat major RV 130). Both pieces feature a similar structure: a slow introduction and a fugal movement.Sepolcri, or oratorios for the sepulchre, were a kind of composition that was performed at the Viennese courts during Holy Week. These were semi-staged oratorios. The examples that survive by Caldara or Fux show how the introductions of these oratorios always had the same scheme: a slow introduction followed by a fugal movement, just like the RV 169 and RV 130.These compositions are undoubtedly inspired by the Viennese, although it seems unlikely that Vivaldi wrote them as a commissioned work. However, it is possible that they were composed to support his application to the Viennese court. It is also quite probable that these pieces were intended to accompany some of the liturgical actions that were celebrated between Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday, such as the visit to the Sepulchers in Venetian churches.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1292493 By Brian Golden. By Brian Golden. Arranged by Brian Golden. Classical,Contemporary. Score. 2 pages. Brian Golden #883006. Published by Brian Golden (A0.1292493). Prelude 19 in A Major Ionian from 24 Preludes for the Piano in Major and Minor Modes by composer Brian Golden   The creative concept in writing these preludes is to provide a link to past preludes written for the keyboard, and in particular to the works of J.S. Bach and Frederic Chopin, whose works stand as essential repertoire for any student of the piano.  Using Bach’s and Chopin’s examples, my goal was to compose in all twenty-four keys, yet offer my own variation on the progression of key signatures – Bach’s being a pattern of major to parallel minor progressing chromatically through all keys, and Chopin’s a pattern of major to relative minor keys progressing clockwise through the circle of fifths.  In order to expand my harmonic and melodic possibilities, I have included the modal keys rather than only the major and harmonic minor keys, and have chosen to work counterclockwise through the circle of fifths, which is a more natural harmonic progression.  Therefore, all major preludes resolve from one to another V-I, as well as do all the minor preludes.    While there are seven modal scales, I decided to leave out the locrian modes for the following reasons.  First, due to the diminished fifth, the locrian mode cannot be thought of as either major nor minor.  Second, the locrian mode did not have a relative key to pair with, since there were no other keys with the identical characteristic notes.    In creating the key architecture, I determined that there was only one solution to pairing major and relative minor scales based on a shared parent key and characteristic note - ionian/aolian, mixolydian/phrygian and lydian/dorian.  This specific order of modal scales is the only order that would enable composing in all twelve key signatures.  Finally, the inspiration for each prelude came from playing through several other preludes in the same keys - mostly by Bach and Chopin - and letting their themes and styles influence me in the writing of my own.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1504747 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Thomas Ling. Baroque,Classical,Instructional. Score. 11 pages. Thomas Swee Chin #1080174. Published by Thomas Swee Chin (A0.1504747). Capriccio on the Departure of a Beloved Brother, BWV 992 is an early keyboard work by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed in 1704 when Bach was still a teenager. It is considered one of his few programmatic compositions, telling a specific story through music. The piece was likely written to bid farewell to Bach’s brother, Johann Jacob, who was leaving to serve as an oboist in the military.Structure and Programmatic Elements:The Capriccio is divided into six short movements, each with a descriptive title, narrating the emotional journey of the departure:Arioso: Adagio – A friend tries to dissuade him from leavingA gentle, expressive movement representing a friend’s attempt to persuade Johann Jacob to stay.Andante – They picture the dangers that may befall himThis section evokes the imagined dangers and perils of travel, characterized by ominous, foreboding musical gestures.Adagissimo – A lament of the friendsA sorrowful, slow lament, capturing the grief and sadness of those bidding farewell to the brother.Aria di Postiglione – The postillion’s horn is heardThis movement imitates the sound of a post horn, as if signaling the brother’s imminent departure by coach, a common mode of travel in that period.Fuga all’imitazione della cornetta di postiglioneA lively fugue that continues the imitation of the post horn, showcasing Bach’s contrapuntal skills even at this young age.Aria – The friends’ farewellThe final movement brings the capriccio to a touching close as the friends say their last goodbye.Style and Significance:Musical Innovation: While Bach is typically known for abstract works, this early piece is unique for its use of vivid musical storytelling. Each movement serves a narrative function, making it one of the earliest examples of program music, where the music is designed to evoke specific images or emotions outside of purely musical ideas.Youthful Playfulness: The Capriccio reveals the young Bach’s ability to blend humor, drama, and emotion. It also shows his developing mastery of counterpoint, which would later define his mature works.Historical Context: Bach composed this piece at the beginning of his career, before his major positions in Weimar, Köthen, or Leipzig, making it an important insight into his early stylistic development. This capriccio is an expressive and inventive work that balances emotional depth with technical brilliance. It stands out as a unique, personal piece within Bach’s extensive oeuvre, reflecting both a sense of farewell and a joyful exploration of musical ideas.

Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Flute,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.949151 Composed by John Maynard. Arranged by Ian D. Crew. Christmas,Classical,Concert,Renaissance,Standards. Score and parts. 2 pages. Grumpy Mule Music #6058763. Published by Grumpy Mule Music (A0.949151). The pastourelle/pastorale, depending on your language, harks back to the compound time folk music for bagpipes that we now associate with shepherds and the Nativity. (Two very famous examples are the 'Pifa' section in Handel's 'Messiah' and the final movement of Corelli's 'Christmas Concerto'.)  This duet in the pastoral style, based on a dance tune by the little known English composer John Maynard (c.1577 - c.1633), will enhance any Christmas worship or recital. Here is the version in F major for flute and Bb clarinet.

Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549032). Schubert's Moment Musicaux is a collection of six short pieces for solo piano composed by Franz Schubert. They are among the most frequently played of Schubert's piano music and have been recorded many times. The Moments Musicaux are supreme examples of Schubert's ability to suggest the subtlest nuances of emotion, which shift and alter literally in a moment. The composition of the Moments was quite sporadic, with the third and sixth movements appearing in various collections of works compiled by publishers in 1823/24 and the complete collection appearing in 1828, the year of Schubert's death. The Moments Musicaux are short pieces, shorter than his Impromptus, and are collected under the opus number 94. They encompass various moods and moderate difficulty, showcasing Schubert's skill in touching different tonal areas within a single movement. Schubert's Moment Musicaux No. 3 is a significant and popular piece. It is described as energetic, playful, and lyrical. The Moments Musicaux are among Schubert's best-loved works, and No. 3 is known for its whimsical merriment.

All My Loving is a Beatles song, composed by Paul McCartney (although it is credited to Lennon/McCartney) for the 1963 album With the Beatles. It was one of the few examples of compositions where McCartney wrote the lyrics before the music; the text was apparently conceived as a poem, composed while he was shaving.McCartney originally envisioned it as a country & western song, and it was written on piano during a rehearsal for the Beatles' tour with Roy Orbison; George Harrison added his Nashville-style guitar solo to the recording. Using the letter format in the song's lyrics, also used in P.S. I Love You.

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.836718 Composed by Brian Joyce. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 15 pages. Brian Joyce #5749579. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836718). These eight Chorale Preludes were all written between March and May of 2020, during the worldwide Coronavirus Pandemic. Unlike the earlier companion volumes of shorter English and German preludes, which feature a variety of moods and themes, these American examples all seem to center around the closely related ideas of hope and quiet confidence. While this was not my intention back when I was choosing hymns to work with, I am pleased with the unity of the set. Taken as a whole, they are filled with tidings of comfort and joy. Stylistically, the preludes range from the baroque bounce of Praise Him, Jesus Our Blessed Redeemer, through the sturdy On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand (with its chords sounding as if they had been carved from granite blocks) and a surprisingly delicate I Stand Amazed. There is a fair amount of canonic leading and following in He Leadeth Me; Great is Thy Faithfulness is the expressive heart of the set; and we end by returning to 18th century ritornello models with Blessed Assurance. Through it all I think I have managed to avoid any sense of academic stuffiness - in fact there are several moments which may sound almost playful if not handled rightly. As with the Shorter English and German Preludes, most of these are between one and two minutes in length, and each fits on one or two pages, arranged so as to avoid page turns. As always, durations and sources are provided for your planning.
