The tender Christian hymn by Lanny Wolfe has been freshly arranged for a 2-part choir (Part 1: High Voices (Sop. & Ten), Part 2: Low Voices (Alto & Bass) with Piano accompaniment. This arrangement is the only version that contains all of the verses and the different refrains ever used for this piece. Accessible and appropriate for any church or concert setting. Can be used on multiple occasions throughout the liturgical year. Thanksgiving and anything pertaining to the Holy Spirit are prime examples.

For a Synagogue In Pittsburgh, In C Minor will touch your heart.

Dedicated to the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue tragedy of 2018, this mood piece is best suited for Jewish religious events; however, because it is an instrumental, it also is effective as a prelude piece for Christian liturgical services. A piano solo version of this was performed Oct. 27, 2019, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, by the music collective Sacred & Secular before the start of the service. One congregation member, who also is a member of Sacred & Secular, was moved to tears.

In terms of technical proficiency, For a Synagogue In Pittsburgh is an excellent fit for intermediate students/players and would fit best in recitals and/or concerts that include two or three other introspective-sounding pieces. More famous examples would include Debussy's Clair de Lune and Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

Plans are underway to expand this ensemble arrangement (string quartet, offered with score and parts) to include an SATB vocal arrangement and make it available on Mo-Mutt Music's Sheet Music Plus page.

The origin of the tune was for a long time somewhat mysterious, as no other collector of folk tunes encountered it, and all known examples are descended from Ms. Ross’ submission to Petrie’s collection (1855). The title of the air comes from the name of the county located in Northern Ireland. The air was collected by Jane Ross of Limavady, County Londonderry, who heard it played by an itinerant piper or fiddler. The descendants of blind fiddler Jimmy McCurry assert that he is the musician from whom she transcribed the tune but there is no historical evidence to support this speculation. The tune was listed as an anonymous air, with a note attributing its collection to Jane Ross of Londonderry. This led to the descriptive title Londonderry Air being used for the piece

As an ardent fan of film, I have found myself increasingly attracted to full-fledged scores for cinema. No matter if it's an arrangement of a specific piece, or an original composition, I find myself wanting to view a movie merely for the score.

When I was growing up, Westerns were a ubiquitous genre in Hollywood. In addition, New York City had a number of television stations that offered them as well. What all of these films and television programs had in common was, that they always had a strong, catchy and folksy theme. Prime examples were the themes to Bonanza, Wyatt Earp, Wanted Dead or Alive, etc.

I wrote The Opening of The West with the goal of having some catchy, folksy and iconic themes that people would remember. I would like to think that this could eventually become an iconic western score.

This is Gomez's theme which was often played during the original show. Features an optional improv solo or played as written for Tenor. 

I gave it a bit of a higher rating due to the solo and for the key that arrangement starts in.

The audio and video examples are based on a version with 2 saxes and 2 trombones. It is the same arrangement though.

Composed and premiered in 1915, Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil is one of the most well-known examples of the sacred music of the Russian Orthodox Church. Joyful Light, the fourth movement of the composition, is based on a traditional chant from Kiev and the text from the Evening Hymn of Light, which is over 1600 years old. You might imagine the candles of an old Russian cathedral being lit at dusk as you perform this work. This arrangement for brass choir includes 8 parts: 2 trumpets, 2 horns, 2 trombones, 2 tubas, and 1 euphonium part that is interchangeable with the 1st tuba part. Performance time is around 2 minutes.
