This tune was published by Daniel Dow in the 1770s and was probably composed by Roderick Morison (~1656-1713). My double-strung harp arrangement in the dorian mode has rolled, echoed chords, highlighting the depth of sound we can get from having two sets of strings. The accompaniment hand traverses the entire range of the harp, often overlapping the melody hand.

Range and key: D dorian (all naturals). 24x2 strings. C below middle C through E.

Lever changes: None.

Good for: Performance, memorials, therapeutic settings.

Double-strung effects: The LH accompaniment frequently overlaps the RH melody range. Rolled accompaniment chords often contain the same note as the melody, creating a rolled echo. Some chords that aren’t rolled have doubled notes in both hands, creating depth. The repetition of LH patterns makes this a great piece to learn overlapping hands with.

Characteristics: Neither hand needs to place more than an octave spread. There are some four-note chords (always LH 1-3-5-8). The RH has almost no chords. Few of the chords are inversions. There are very few sixteenth notes; no more than three played together with one hand. The LH has two long-run patterns (1-5-8-9-10 and 1-5-8-9) which can be played with cross-unders or a wandering thumb. The RH has a few cross-overs/unders.

Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff). All My Loving is a Beatles song, composed by Paul McCartney (although it is credited to Lennon/McCartney) for the 1963 album With the Beatles.

It was one of the few examples of compositions where McCartney wrote the lyrics before the music; the text was apparently conceived as a poem, composed while he was shaving.

McCartney originally envisioned it as a country & western song, and it was written on piano during a rehearsal for the Beatles' tour with Roy Orbison; George Harrison added his Nashville-style guitar solo to the recording. Using the letter format in the song's lyrics, also used in P.S. I Love You.

Enrique Granados (1867–1916) was a Spanish pianist and composer of classical music. His music is in a uniquely Spanish style and, as such, representative of musical nationalism. Granados wrote piano music, chamber music, songs, zarzuelas, and an orchestral tone poem based on Dante’s Divine Comedy. Many of his piano compositions have been transcribed for the classical guitar and are generally considered as some of the most beautiful music in the guitar repertoire: examples include Danza No. 5 and Goyescas.

My First Step of Faith is an inspirational song about the moment of decision to follow Jesus Christ that begins at baptism.  With lyrics full of examples from scripture this song is a powerful reminder that every faith journey has a beginning.

These pieces were written and dedicated to my piano students. The idea behind 
these series of compositions was to create easy, short and accessible piano pieces that 
sounded nice and that would encourage my students to learn various pieces, rather than 
learning a single long piece.

My aim as a composer with this series is to evoke feelings usually associated with 
the night, such as calmness, tranquility, serenity, among others. The harmony utilized in 
these pieces is rooted in tonality. However, the fairly constant use of chords with added 
6ths, 7ths, 9ths, as well as a few modal exchanges, add color to the harmonic sense of 
the music, perhaps even contributing to create a relaxing mood.

Also, these pieces have a pedagogical edge. They are meant to be utilized to 
showcase chord triads, broken chords, music sequences, the use of the pedal, among 
many others. If you are a teacher, feel free to use these pieces as examples for your 
lessons.

The last but most important thing I would like to add is to just enjoy playing these 
pieces. Do not hesitate in diving into a calm mood while playing these series of 
compositions, since they were created with that objective in mind. Simply enjoy them.

The present arrangement is a concert versión for piano four-hands, made by Anatoly Zatin and Vlada Vassilieva, better known as Duo Petrof. The original music was composed by Tomás León and dedicated to his pupil Miss Laura Formento. Tomás León played a leading role in the foundation of the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico and was responsible for the selection of music for the National Anthem. León's work is characterized by a refined melodic character and his salon pieces are among the best examples of its time.

The pastourelle/pastorale, depending on your language, harks back to the compound time folk music for bagpipes that we now associate with shepherds and the Nativity. (Two very famous examples are the 'Pifa' section in Handel's 'Messiah' and the final movement of Corelli's 'Christmas Concerto'.) 

This duet in the pastoral style, based on a dance tune by the little known English composer John Maynard (c.1577 - c.1633), will enhance any Christmas worship or recital. Here is the version in G major for treble (alto) and bass recorders.

I gave it a bit of a higher rating due to the solo for the trumpet 2.
