Caprice for Horn and Piano started out as a totally different piece of music, as a song in fact. However, in this modified form in a different key, it works well as a short, easy solo for horn. This is a light piece without any technical difficulties, but the modest musical material will test your musicality. It’s mainly about melody, not technical abilities. Spirited, lyrical, reflective – those are the three moods the player needs to communicate, and always with a light touch. Alternative lower notes have been included in the horn part for the very highest notes, although the goal should be to play the highest notes confidently.
