Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153134 Composed by Joseph Hasper. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score and parts. 93 pages. Joseph Hasper #753375. Published by Joseph Hasper (A0.1153134). There are five main sections in this piece, each lasting exactly 21 measures. Why this unlikely number? I chose this number because the percussion parts, which are the driving force behind the piece, are based repeating patterns of 6, 7, and 8 eighth notes. It works out that these patterns only line up every 168 half-beats—which happens only at the end of 21 measures! The title for this piece was provided by Armstrong High School student Aaron Baker and was used as inspiration for the work. The phrase “endless routes†guided my decision to have several main themes instead of just one or two. The themes are widely different in character but share the feature that they each go to the same place—the very last half of the last beat of every twenty-first measure. The Minimalist style of music often features short musical fragments that are repeated many times in different combinations, and I used that technique to create a seemingly “endless†effect in the percussion parts. The percussion parts also use a colotomic structure, a technique often used in gamelan music of the far East. Unlike Western music, which generally has a strong accent on the first beat of a phrase, colotomic music accents the last beat of a phrase. You can hear this in Endless Routes when the percussion parts all become aligned and hit a simultaneous accent at the end of each section. This piece was commissioned and premiered by the Armstrong High School, under the direction of Jason Venesky. Mr. Venesky is a veteran teacher with over twenty years of experience in the Armstrong School District. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance (Tuba) and Music Education Certification and an active performer as Principal Tuba for the Butler County Symphony Orchestra; tubaist for the Armstrong Brass Quintet and Windsor Brass Quintet; and Bass Trombonist for the Gibbons Big Band. Mr. Venesky is currently Instructor of Tuba at Grove City College and Music Director for the Kittanning Community Band. Includes a full score and complete set of parts.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158017 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical. 17 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758313. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158017). Dr. Thrower grew up near the granite hills of northern Utah. As he composed this short fanfare, the octaves in the tuba and trombone conjured images of a solid foundation for the upper brass to build on. The imagery of a granite monolith powerfully provided a suitable title. He pictured himself back in the mountains of his youth, standing on seemingly eternal ground that even an earthquake would have difficulty cracking. The grandeur of that feeling of security and connection to something safe and firm is hopefully reflected in the power of the strong notes of this brief fanfare. Pictured on the cover is “Devil’s Tower†located in Wyoming. Although not in Utah, this monolith is a dramatic specimen, worthy of the intended musical imagery of this fanfare. The piece was composed for the student brass quintet at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The premiere performance opened their exciting concert on December 1, 2010. It has since been performed by various brass quintets throughout the United States, including universities and military ensembles.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810369 By The Surfaris. By The Surfaris. Arranged by Laura Reynolds. Contemporary. Score. 2 pages. Laura Reynolds #5744855. Published by Laura Reynolds (A0.810369). This arrangement of Wipe Out is fun to keep in students’ repertoire. It is easy enough for beginner levels 1 and 2 to play, but not so short it doesn’t feel like a full song. It is a 1:07 in length, and contains simple moving, chords, naturals, sharps, and accents. It also has the fun bridge included in the song that most arrangements of this piece exclude.  To learn this song quickly check out my blog post: How to Play Wipe Out on the PianoFor even more practice tips visit my blog post: Best Piano Practice Strategies

Choral Choir (SAT) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1200196 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Hans Rudolf. 19th Century,Christian,Historic,Praise & Worship,Religious. Octavo. 19 pages. Hans Rudolf #798998. Published by Hans Rudolf (A0.1200196). A Poor Wayfaring Stranger is a traditional American folk song with roots that can be traced back to the early 19th century. The song tells the story of a weary traveler who is journeying through a difficult world in search of a brighter future in the afterlife. The song's haunting melody and poignant lyrics have made it a favorite of singers and audiences alike, and it has been covered by countless artists over the years. The song's origins are somewhat murky, but it is believed to have originated in the southern United States, possibly in the Appalachian Mountains. The earliest known version of the song dates back to the 1820s, when it was collected by musicologist and folklorist John Jacob Niles. Niles recorded the song as part of his efforts to preserve traditional American folk music, and he later performed it as part of his own repertoire.Over the years, A Poor Wayfaring Stranger has become a staple of the American folk music canon, and it has been covered by a wide range of artists, including Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, and many others. The song's haunting melody and spiritual themes have made it a powerful symbol of hope and perseverance, and it continues to inspire and move people around the world.

Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1391215 By Christopher Alexander. By H. M. Queen Liliuokalani. Arranged by Christopher Alexander. Folk,Multicultural,Standards,Traditional,World. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Christopher Alexander #974747. Published by Christopher Alexander (A0.1391215). This Hawaiian folk song, perhaps the culture’s most famous, was written by Lili’uokalani in 1878 when she was Princess. It was originally written about the parting of two lovers, but as she ascended the throne to become Queen the song was heightened to become the national anthem of the Hawaiian kingdom. The simplistic melody and the supportive piano accompaniment allows the song to be accessible and relatively easy to create a heartfelt performance.Aloha Oe (Farewell to Thee) is included in the collection:Songs Without Words: Ten Popular Songs Arranged for Solo Instrument with Piano Accompaniment

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.979665 Composed by Roger Aldridge. Jazz,World. Score and parts. 12 pages. Roger Aldridge #512603. Published by Roger Aldridge (A0.979665). Fanfare (for 4 or 5 wind instruments and rhythm section) was inspired by Brazilian brass bands. It was written for music students at the Sandy Spring Friends School in Maryland. This music has an exuberant spirit with samba rhythms churning under contemporary harmonic voicings. It is intended to be a short piece; however, the vamp at the end can be extended with a solo or collective improvisation. Another option is to have a percussion intro before the horn section enters with the opening chords. While Fanfare was draws upon Brazilian music, it is in my own style. Unlike my other pieces for mid-size ensemble, the rhythm section is optional for Fanfare. In this way, the piece can be performed by woodwind or brass quintets, clarinet ensemble, or sax quartet/quintet as several possibilities. Additionally, it can be easily adapted for big bands and larger ensembles by doubling players on parts so that each line has a distinctive blending of tone colors. Suggested assignment of parts for a big band: I -- 4 trumpets (open); II -- clarinet, soprano sax; III - alto sax, trombone (open); IV - tenor sax, trombone (cup), trombone (bucket); V - baritone sax, bass trombone (open). PARTS: The set of parts is available at FANFARE PARTS (S0.90413).
