I never got round back then to writing a second and third movement as I intended to. I recently came across the score of the first movement and decided to compose a tonal, lyrical slow movement followed by a highly rhythmic finale (with nods to the first movement) to finally complete the sonata. The mp3 plays back the whole sonata.

It is a bleak and doleful lament played mostly unaccompanied by a shepherd boy keeping watch for Isolde's ship to arrive. The melody is later heard throughout Scene 1.Ralph Sauer, has done a beautiful job in arranging this music (originally played offstage on the English Horn) for Horn in FIt is about 2 1/2 minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers.

Published by charliebmusic (A0.865875). We Need a Little Christmas’ comes from the 1966 Jerry Herman musical ‘Mame’, and was sung by Angela Lansbury on Broadway. Usually an upbeat fast showtune, this surprising arrangement treats the song as a ballad. It focuses on the more wistful aspects of the lyric, about how after a year we have grown a little older, wise and (perhaps!) leaner. It is slow, legato, largely quiet and chorally contrapuntal in places. To give your show an arc, think about about using the other, contrasting arrangement of this song by Charlie, which is the more conventional upbeat show-2 finale. He originally wrote both for one Holiday program, and put one at the beginning and the other at the end.
