Mark O'Connor Musik International #6207233. Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861913). October Impressions (mandolin part – mandolin, guitar, percussion) MO157BMandolin Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor3 pages - 5:30 minutes in length From the Thirty-Year Retrospective album notes; I began to choose and arrange some of the best tunes of my 30-year recording career. As I worked, it all came flooding back. The places, the people, the feelings. Tunes from my  childhood... Pickin’ in the Wind, the first tune I ever wrote...material from my Rounder and early Warner Bros. recordings...The Championship Years, New Nashville Cats, Heroes, Strength in Numbers, the Appalachia projects for Sony Classical. It was all there. A musical biography...started out as a retrospective of my career, during the process it became more. As I listen now, I realize that these recordings stand as a testament to the living, breathing, ever-evolving heritage of American music. As I watch these and other young players rise, I know it couldn’t be in better hands. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 2002 Composed by Mark O’ConnorCan be heard on Thirty-Year Retrospective OMAC RecordsMark O’Connor – Violin, Chris Thile - Mandolin Catalogue Number MO157BCopyright © 1983 by Mark O’Connor Music International For more information on violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, O’Connor String Camps, Touring Ensembles, Discography, Bio, Repertoire and more, please visitwww.markoconnor.com For information on the O’Connor Method – instructional book series for violin, viola, cello and school string orchestra programs:www.oconnormethod.com

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970748 Composed by Mike Strand. Concert,Graduation,Jazz,Latin,World. Score and parts. 3 pages. Michael M. Strand #5335369. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970748). By Mike Strand, ASCAP This is a bossa nova lead sheet with chord symbols and guitar fret boards, for a jazz or Latin ensemble, large or small, and a solo instrument (flute, saxophone, guitar, etc.). So it supports a variety of arrangements, contra facts, and improvisations. The audio sample is a jazz bossa nova accompaniment, combined with my tune from Finale PrintMusic - a quartet ensemble.  In this particular sample, you'll hear a flute carry the tune.Levantado translates to lifted up, and connotes being cheered up or advanced in some way.  This tune would serve well at a graduation party. Many bossa novas are in minor keys and convey sadness or melancholy.  Levantado is not your typical bossa -- you’ll hear major chords and ascending melody motifs, good for a happy occasion. Libertango, by Astor Piazzolla, was my inspiration for this composition, and he is recognized in the subtitle.  The basic structure of Levantado is similar to Piazzolla's piece, but the harmonic progressions and melody in Levantado differ from those in Libertango.  The chord base notes in my piece often ascend in the progressions, where they descend in Piazzolla's piece.  The melody motifs between the two pieces also differ -- gone are Libertango's repeated 7-note figures, and there are reversals or inversions in my piece relative to Piazzolla's other melodic material.

Bass Guitar,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.964412 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Leyandder Trustworthy. Baroque,Instructional,Standards,World. Score and individual part. 2 pages. Leyandder Trustworthy #6323037. Published by Leyandder Trustworthy (A0.964412). Cantata 156 was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast (72, 73, 111 and 156), it was the last, and the only one scored for solo voice. Like Cantatas 73 and 111, it is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different melodies and choral texts in the second and sixth (final) movements, respectively; the second uses Machs mit mir, Gott, nach deiner Güt (Schein, 1628), which Herr, wie du willt, so schicks mit mir (Binemann, 1582) is reserved for the finale. This version of the piece was adapted for Electric Bass along with a piano accompaniment that comes with the product.

Mark O'Connor Musik International #6205031. Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861882). Butterfly’s Day Out (viola part – mandolin/misc instr., vla, cel) MO111BViola Part (score - cel/bs, parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor3 pages - 4:45 minutes in length Butterfly’s Day Out adapted for mandolin/misc. instr., viola and cello by O’Connor is on the album Appalachia Waltz featuring Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer. The piece was one of the stand-out cuts, receiving a wide variety of radio play, and bringing the trio’s music to new audiences. Written originally for the mandolin, it surely is one of O’Connor’s most memorable mandolin melodies. With the aid of Edgar Meyer arranging the fabulous cello and bass solo sections, the piece can be performed in a variety of instrumental settings. The mandolin part could be also covered by guitar, piano, harp or most any chordal instrument. The piece was named by a young music student at an inner-city camp for underprivileged youths. At his workshop, O’Connor performed his new piece on the mandolin and asked for the kids to help him name it. The title, Butterfly’s Day Out, helped O’Connor complete his vision for the tune. The whole experience also inspired the idea for O’Connor to start his own Fiddle Camps. The music is suited for advanced and intermediate levels. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1994 Composed by Mark O’ConnorOriginally released on Appalachian Waltz featuring Mark O’Connor, Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer, Sony ClassicalOther versions of Butterfly’s Day Out can be heard on Mark O’Connor’s Thirty-Year Retrospective OMAC Records, A Musical Legacy OMAC Records and The Essential Mark O’Connor Sony Classical Catalogue Number MO111BCopyright © 1994 by Mark O’Connor Music International For more information on violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, O’Connor String Camps, Touring Ensembles, Discography, Bio, Repertoire and more, please visitwww.markoconnor.com For information on the O’Connor Method – instructional book series for violin, viola, cello and school string orchestra programs:www.oconnormethod.com

Small Ensemble Alto Recorder,Bass Recorder,Soprano Recorder,Tenor Recorder - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799559 Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Kathleen Arends & Drake Mabry. Classical,Folk,Renaissance,World. Score and parts. 15 pages. Drake Mabry #3860143. Published by Drake Mabry (A0.799559). This is the recorder ensemble version of J'ai Vu Le Loup (I saw the Wolf). J'ai Vu Le Loup is an old French song in which the Gregorian chant tune of Dies Irae becomes a lively dance. The lyrics describe seeing the wolf, the fox, and the hare (possibly the King, the Church, and the Landlord) eating, drinking, and dancing. Variations of this song seem to exist from as early as the 13th century and can be found in several European countries as well as in modern Cajun and Quebec French versions. Even modern pop and rap performers have made use of it. This recorder ensemble arrangement begins simply, then builds throughout to a frenzied, syncopated finale. Each part has its own interest.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1030615 Composed by William Billings. Arranged by Mike Allsen. Classical,Praise & Worship,Renaissance,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 41 pages. Aaron Hettinga #636010. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.1030615). William Billings (1746-1800) was North America’s first great choral composer. He spent most of his life in Boston, working at various times as a tanner or as minor civic official, and occasionally as a church musician. Billings seems to have had little formal music training, but when he was just 22, he also set himself up as an itinerant singing-master, teaching “singing-schools,†where children and adults could learn the rudiments of musical notation and solfege. To feed the market he and other singing-masters had helped to create, Billings published six collections of music, mostly for SATB voices, The first of these, The New England Psalm-Singer (1770) featured a frontispiece engraved by his friend Paul Revere. Billings was fairly prosperous by 1780s, but his good fortune faded in the 1790s. His final collection of music, The Continental Harmony of 1794, was published for his benefit by a group of Boston friends. Billings died destitute in 1800. Billings composed some 340 pieces, mostly collected in his printed editions. This music has a rough-edged and sturdy beauty that is distinctly different from anything in contemporary Europe. The vast majority of Billings’s works were hymns or “psalm tunes.†He was particularly attracted to the great English hymn-writer Isaac Watts (1674-1748), though Billings himself wrote verses for many of his hymns. One of the most famous Billings “psalm tunes,†Chester is not a Christian hymn, but rather a patriotic song of defiance directed against the British. Billings spent nearly all of the Revolutionary War in Boston and made no secret of his patriot sentiments. Chester was first published in 1770, but when he republished it in his The Singing-Master’s Assistant during the height of the war in 1778, Billings added a verse calling out the “infernal league†of the leading British generals Howe, Burgoyne, Clinton, Prescot and Cornwallis. Many brass-players will know Chester from the finale of William Schuman’s 1957 band piece A New England Triptych. Billings also composed over 50 “fuging-tunesâ€â€”a genre that usually included a short introduction and a repeated contrapuntal section. (These fuging sections usually begin with imitation, but they are otherwise not at all like classical fugues written in Europe at the time.) The fuging-tune Creation is one of his later works, published in The Continental Harmony of 1794, and experiments with the form. It sets two verses of the Watts hymn “When I With Pleasing Wonder Stand†though final line of verse 1 is repeated in a striking phrase that suddenly moves twice as fast (m.15). The fuging section begins in m.30, and rather than the usual exact repeat, Billing writes an entirely new and more elaborate second section beginning at m.44. Billings first published the simple but beautiful Africa in 1770, and published a revised version in 1778; the later version appearing with the Isaac Watts hymn “Now Shall My Inward Joys Arise.†I first arranged Africa in 1995, for the Glenwood Moravian Trombone Choir (Madison, WI), and I edited it for this publication. Phrasing and articulations marked here reflect the original vocal texts. Africa has long been a favorite of the Glenwood group. Chester and Creation were arranged in 2022. Mike Allsen February 2022.
